Prince George, B.C.- A 16 year old faces a string of charges in the wake of half a dozen thefts, or attempted thefts, from homes in the Crescents area of Prince George on the weekend.
On Saturday September 14th at 4:35 AM, the Prince George RCMP received two reports of Break & Enters in progress at residences on Ross Crescent. In the first case, a resident awoke to the sound of a window opening and footsteps running away. In the second instance, the resident of the second home was roused out of sleep when their dog started barking. In both cases, there was evidence someone had tried to break in to the homes.
While making patrols for suspects, a General Duty officer was flagged down by a resident on McBride Crescent who discovered his home was broken into while he and his family slept.
At approximately 5:20 AM, General Duty officers with the help of a Police Service Dog and handler, located a 16 year old male suspect attempting to remove a bicycle from a back yard of another Ross Crescent property. He was also found in possession of other items believed to have been stolen. He was arrested without incident.
At approximately 8:00 AM, another resident of Ross Crescent called police to report a Break & Enter to her home. A lap top computer, liquor and a suitcase were taken. All of these items have been confirmed to have been in the possession of the suspect at the time of his arrest.
Just after 11:00 AM, another resident of Ross Crescent called to report a Break & Enter to a garage and that a bicycle was stolen. This was confirmed to be the same bicycle that the suspect had in his possession at the time of the arrest.
The suspect, originally from another northern community, was remanded in custody at least until Court today. He will be facing a number of property related Criminal Code charges.
Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his name will not be released.

Old enough to drive a car?
Old enough to have your name published.
IMHO
Kick him up to adult court… enough handling these criminals with kid gloves, at 16 he is old enough to know better. No breaks for him…
He is just a poor misunderstood kid. By publishing his name it might affect the rest of his life. There is no such thing as a bad kid….. So the movie will tell ya.
Maybe he just needs a hug and a cookie?
I know that sometimes people make mistakes, but this kid is well on his way to setting himself up for a lifetime of being ‘known to police’.
This kid needs some serious intervention.
I don’t believe our youth justice system is it.
metalman.
Old enough to violate my home, old enough to get his lights punched out. No problem whatsoever!
Life was a lot simpler when there was no video cameras in the police station. All he needs is a good ass whoopin, that will get him back on track. That is the kind of intervention he needs.
Now he can experience “open custody”. That oughta learn him.
wow. checkitout, you’d be proud of yourself for beating the crap out of a kid? nice one! real man, right?
put a 16 year old up at the jail in the general population? you think he’ll be cured when he gets out? you guys are delusional. think he’ll learn his lesson and go get a trade when he gets out? the kid’s an idiot, no doubt, but use your collective brains to figure out a solution that benefits the community. incarceration and ‘punching his lights out’ help no one when a kid’s involved.
So what’s your solution mikmak? Unless this kid has a complete change of heart (somewhat unlikely), he’ll just be another burden to society and the justice system.
There’s your next generation mentality! Let them grow up on video games, no work ethics and mom sticking up for his everyday malfunctions! How is that working out for our society?! I grew up on a farm and ranches. Surrounded by real men that taught you a lesson and manners and how to respect women, and especially other peoples property. If you were an idiot, you might get grandpas’ little slap on the head. No big deal, and you remembered, mostly how embarrased you got. After 16 yrs old, and doing adult crimes, you would be held responsible in an adult way. A good old fashioned ass whoopin from the old man would be comin! And mom wouldn’t save your bacon! And we didn’t grow up on the government tit into our thirties and forties, because we were “stressed out”! We got jobs and careers
A bleeding heart mikmak… and that is why there are no real sentences today and also why its never their fault for their actions. TIme to bring back public humiliation… deterents are needed to punich those found guilty… Make the punishment harsh enough so the kid wont want to break the law.. dont double the number of hugs.. that does nothing.
I perused the story and all the comments and there is one thing that hasn’t been mentioned: Parents!
Obviously he has two, that’s how people come into this world!
Where are the parents?
(I am beginning to feel a bit sorry for the boy).
