Prince George, BC – Although it was announced at the end of July, Northern Health Board Chair, Dr Charles Jago, was officially bestowed with the Order of BC in Victoria earlier this week.

Dr. Jago was one of 12 recipients to be recognized for exceptional civic leadership during a ceremony at Government House with Lieutenant-Governor, Judith Guichon.  (photo at right shows Jago and NH CEO, Cathy Ulrich, following the ceremony  courtesy NH)

The Order is BC’s highest form of recognition honouring citizens for their leadership, volunteerism, and philanthropy.

Dr. Jago was at UNBC during its formative years and is credited with being a key player in securing the university’s Northern Medical Program.  He also co-authored a study that led to the development of the Northern Cancer Centre. 

Jago is also a recipient of the the Order of Canada.
