Thursday, September 26, 2013 @ 8:50 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Transport Canada investigators are trying to determine the cause of a light plane crash in Fort Nelson Wednesday afternoon.

North District RCMP Media Relations Officer Constable Lesley Smith says that at approximately 4pm yesterday police in the northern town were advised that a single-engine amphibious plane with just the pilot aboard crash landed at the intersection of 55th Street and 46th Avenue in the industrial area of Fort Nelson.

The pilot walked away with minor injuries, went to hospital to be checked out and was released. The plane caught fire following the crash and the flames were put out by responding firefighters without damage to the surrounding infrastructure.

The plane wreckage is in the possession of Transport Canada officials as they try to determine what led to the crash.
