Prince George, B.C. – It wasn’t exactly a warm, inviting day. In fact when the wind started blowing it carried a definite chill. But it didn’t dampen the atmosphere as the City and its educational partners welcomed international students to Prince George.
Acting Mayor Cameron Stolz welcomed students who are attending UNBC, CNC, District 57 schools and Shecana International to Prince George, “one of the most welcoming communities in Canada.” He invited them to enjoy their stay and perhaps even think about living here once their education is completed.
Stolz was joined by other members of City Council, representatives of UNBC and CNC, District 57 board chair Sharel Warrington and the Lheidli T’enneh in telling the students how good it is to have them here and trying to make them feel at home.
The two-hour get together in front of City Hall featured some good old Canadian hamburgers, music, council chamber tours and prizes. Following the gathering there three transit busses took the students on a tour of the city, pointing out facilities including the pools, library, shopping centres and other places they may be interested in.
This is the fourth year of the International Student Welcome Event.

Good idea! I like this much better than more trips to China.
