Toor’s First Leads Spruce Kings To Victory

Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Spruce Kings kicked off a busy weekend in the BC Hockey League with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Express in Coquitlam.

The start of the third period saw the Spruce Kings killing off the final 54 seconds of a goaltender interference penalty to captain Bryant Christian before then going on the power play, but without success. However Prince George tied the game up at 5:20 when Brent Lashuk backhanded a rebound into the net, assists going to LeBrun and Derek Bulmer. But just 39 seconds later Christian took his second goalie interference penalty of the night, which meant an automatic game misconduct for the player wearing the “C”.
How would the Spruce Kings react? By playing solid, head-to-head hockey which led to the winning goal with 4:02 left on the clock. Karan Toor scored the first goal of his BC Hockey League career at 15:58 on a two-on-one break, with Mitch Eden getting the lone assist. Toor led the Kings defensively the rest of the way as they pick up a big two points. Jesse Jenks picked up the win as Coquitlam outshot Prince George 30-22.
The victory gives the Spruce Kings 7 points on the young season and moves them into a tie with the Express and Langley for second spot in the Mainland Division.
The Spruce Kings play In Chilliwack Saturday night before a return engagement in Coquitlam Sunday afternoon.
