Harley Davidson Toy Run Set To Roll

Sunday, September 29, 2013 @ 5:12 AM
Prince George, B.C. – It’s going to be a typical fall day in Prince George, with cloud, possible showers and the odd sunny break. But the weather won’t stand in the way of the annual Harley Davidson Toy Run.

Harley riders will be gathering at the CN Centre parking lot around noon. The Salvation Army food truck will be there with chilli, soups, hot chocolate, deserts and coffee that is available by donation. As well the folks from the Harley shop will be on hand selling Toy Run T-shirts, with all donations going to the Salvation Army as well.

The ride will head out on the road at 1pm, travelling up Ospika to Tyner Boulevard, then to University way, Foothills (as shown in this archive photo) all the way up to Chief Lake Road. They’ll then loop through the Hart Highlands before returning to Foothills for the ride back down to the CN Centre.

All of the toys collected in the Harley Toy Run are given to the Salvation Army for distribution to local children at Christmas. Anyone wishing to donate a toy can take it to the CN Centre parking lot. The Salvation Army truck will be there to collect the toys.
There is a desire for toys that are going to stimulate physical activity, things like a football or skateboard. As well, many contributors donate gifts for young children but the older kids get overlooked so taking older children into consideration is welcomed.  As well loads of teddy bears and other stuffed animals are donated but that area is well-covered by the annual Teddy Bear toss. But don’t get the Toy Run people wrong, all donations are greatly appreciated.

Wish I could be there, but having a leg problem due to the diabetes med I’m on and I’m having a problem with balancing my bike. Be glad when I have the sidecar mounted next spring.

The “toy run” is open to and has ALL motorcyclist’s in the area participating, feel free to join us.

Yes, good clarification there Ispy, it’s not just the harley pinheads who participate in the toy run.

Is this the first annual Harley Davidson Toy Run? When did the name change from the Prince George Toy Run?

oh too funny Sine Nomine….I think your the one with the pointed head…

Its about toys for kids who have nothing!!You don’t need an invitation….get on your Virogoos….get a toy or two….n ride!!

Attaching a brand to the Toy Run was obviously an error by Opinion 250. All of the motorcycle groups work together for this and several other similar events. Like the “Quesnel Toy Run”, the “Mackenzie Toy Run”, the “Vanderhoof Toy Run” and the “Prince George Toy Run” – it’s all about the location.

Yeah I don’t like having a brand name associated with a brand free event.

It was with some dismay that I read the headline ; “H-D toy run” because in the past there has been a definite pecking order at this rally. H-D owners and their followers, and everyone else.
Good to hear that it has not become a one brand event.
metalman.

Yes clarification is needed on the name or Harley can shove this up the wazoo and we will find another way to support kids.

It is called “32nd annual “Prince George toy run” with all proceeds to go to the Salvation Army and all motorcyclist are welcome as they have always been.

Just to set some insight , it is not the Harley Davidson toy run , it is the Prince George toy run. The reason that Harley’s lead is because it is set up and organized by the Harley owners Group ( hog) those men and women are leading the pack as volunteers . Not trying to brand it to any make . Would be lead by goldwings if the GWRRA( goldwings club) was organizing it. .

Instead of being a bunch of A$$E$ sitting on your computer arguing and dissing everyone how about you go down to the CN center and donate a toy or some cash. You don’t have to ride a bike to take part.
