Prince George, B.C. – Amidst a backdrop of colour signifying the beginning of fall, a large part of the Prince George and area motorcycling community turned out Sunday to take part in the annual toy run.

Riders of many makes of motorcycle gathered at the CN Centre parking lot at noon and brought with them toys which will be given out by the Salvation Army this Christmas. The Army was there with several big boxes to collect toys from the riders and the public, and also had its food truck on hand to supply, for a donation, hot items like chilli, soups, coffee and hot chocolate. And people took full advantage of it on fairly sunny, but windy day. With the wind gusting from 35 to 50 kilometres an hour, there’s no doubt the 11 or 12 degrees on the thermometer felt a whole lot colder on a bike.

The ride went from CN Centre up Ospika to Tyner Boulevard, came down University Way to Foothills, made its way all the way up to Chief Lake Road, wound through some of the streets in the Hart Highlands then back to Foothills and ending at CN Centre.

People interested in seeing the bikes and supporting what the toy run is about were out on the side of the roads in various locations along the route. And they seemed pretty impressed with a procession that took a good 13 or 14 minutes to pass any given point.
