Three Strikes for Local Man

Prince George, B.C. – For the third time in 5 months, a Prince George manhas been arrested on alleged drug related offences.
 
On Wednesday, October 2nd, a 37 year old man, Neil Romeo Joseph Hamel was arrested on Upland Street, It is alleged he was in possession of a significant amount of cocaine and methamphetamine.  
 
That arrest lead to the execution of a search warrant at an Upland Street address where police seized marijuana, ecstasy and a cross bow.
 
Hamel has now been charged with :
 
·      Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
·      Failing to Comply with a Recognizance
·      Failing to Comply with an Undertaking
·      Failing of Comply with Probation
 
Hamel was previously arrested on June 2nd in the Milburn and Pine Street area of the city. He was stopped for a routine check, and police allege he was in possession  of a collapsible baton, ( in violation of court orders from a previous investigation). He is also accused of being in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine and was charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of failure to comply with an undertaking.   He was released by a Justice of the Peace for a future court date.
 
Hamel was arrested again on July 20th at the corner of Queensway and 20thh Avenue and is alleged to have been in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. That arrest   led to two more counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one more count of failing to comply with an undertaking.   He was again released by a Justice of the Peace for a future court date.
 
On the latest charges, stemming from the October 2nd arrest, Hamel has been remanded in custody at least until his next court appearance which is set for Monday October 16th.
