City Resident Creates ‘One Stop’ For Local Events
FFGRD and REAPS hosted the 3rd Junk in the Trunk community garage sale this weekend
Prince George, BC – One of the many city residents who came out to this past Saturday’s Junk in the Trunk community garage sale was Sherrelle Leckie…
Leckie recently started an ‘Events in PG’ Facebook page to try and suss out the many ‘happenings’ in our city and it was a posting with details on Saturday’s garage sale that drew her to the CN Centre parking lot in hopes of finding a new-to-her treasure.
"This is the first time I’ve been out to this event," said Leckie. "I had actually not heard of it before (seeing the post), but that’s what I’ve found – I’m finding out how busy Prince George is, I thought it was kind of a quiet town and then I started doing this and I’m amazed by how much is going on in our community."
The local resident says she started the page as a resource for others wondering what’s going on in the city. "I go and try to find everything that I possibly can," says Leckie. "And now we’ve got a bunch of users that also post their events."
She says the page has really taken off with almost 1300 members to date, and requests from at least four or five people per day asking to join.

It’s a good idea, but why is it a closed group? Doesn’t that just create extra work?
I like the calendars offered by HQ Prince George and Tourism PG. Nice and organized! But everyone has different preferences. Being an event organizers, it is a huge pain in the butt to have to post your event in a half-dozen different locations. thepulse.ca used to be an awesome site for events in PG, but it’s not running anymore.
Perfect, but please no facebook. I dont ude facebook and will not use it. I know I sound like an old grump who has no time for the internet or the facebook or the myspace, but truthfully I am 35 and am just not a fan of displaying my life online. Would be awesome if this was on its own website.
