Prince George, B.C.- The search continues this morning for a woman missing on the Willow River, east of Prince George.
Prince George Search and Rescue’s Jeff Smedley says he was called out last evening “I paddled the river in the dark” says Smedley. The good news is, they were able to find the woman’s companion, a male, who was also missing. “We plucked him out and sent him to hospital. He was hypothermic” says Smedley. It is believed the male has since been released from hospital.
This morning, a helicopter will be in the air, paddlers will be on the river and teams will be walking the river banks, looking for any sign of the missing 46 year old woman.
How the two ended up in the river, is not yet clear, nor has there been any information as to their identities.
Further information will be released as it becomes available.
This is the second search and rescue on the Willow River near the highway 16 bridge this year. In May a 60 year old woman tumbled into the river when walking her dog. She has not been found.
