Fog Socks in YXS Again

Prince George, B.C.- Expect another day of flight delays and cancellations at the Prince George Airport.
Heavy fog is once again hampering flight operations.
"We had an Air Canada flight and West Jet flight that couldn’t land last night" says YXS spokesperson Lindsay Cotter. Since those flights weren’t able to arrive, it meant there was no plane on the ground ready to take passengers out this morning.
Cotter says at times, the arrival status isn’t known until the flight actually reaches Prince George "They circle and circle, and may not be able to land, so we may not know until the actual arrival time if they will actually land here."
Yesterday’s fog resulted in the cancellation of several flights, with only 3 or four planes actually able to land.
Cotter says the best bet is to check directly with your airline. The arrival and departure information on the YXS website is supposed to be updated by each airline, but they sometimes don’t do it.
"We are taking it hour by hour" says Cotter.

It is that time of year… booking flights in the early morning is a gamble.
The wife is supposed to fly home this afternoon… It might become a bachelor Friday night :-D
This is what happens when you live in Brigadoon.
Whooooaaa …. fog ????
I thought you spent a bunch of coin on that airdrome just a few years back… did somebody forget to buy fog lights and a tractor beam as part of the 30 billion ???

Jacked me around pretty good
Okay. I’m a little baffled by these comments. There are rules set out by Transport Canada and I imagine the rules can even be enhanced by an airline. Fancy ILS system or not, a mid size aircraft such as a 737 or a BA-146 are required to have something like 1200 feet visibility before they can take off. I would guess landing would require a greater distance of visibility.
It’s fog folks, and as JB said, it seems to happen around this time every year. I see nobody has suggested gigantic fans.
Wow… BA-146….. someone hasn’t been to the airport for several years. BA-146 flew here long, long ago.
And your point is…..?
The gigantic fans are all at the Cougars games.
LOL…I guess I should have said….judging by the genius comments on here I’m surprised that no one has suggested gigantic fans.
