Prince George, B.C. – More flight delays and cancellations at the Prince George Airport today beause of fog conditions.

YXS Executive Assistant Robin Smith says an Air Canada flight that was to arrive last night couldn’t land, so the outbound flight this morning was cancelled because there was no plane on the ground.
There have been delays   on   Central Mountain Air flights,  and a West Jet flight from Vancouver is now officially listed as “Late” with an expected arrival time of 11:26.

The schedules could change as Prince George is not the only community socked in. Smith says there are fog issues at other airports resulting in delayed departures which then spills over to Prince George and backing up the system.

Maybe instead of investing $27 million on a useless runway extension, the money could have been better spent on upgrading the airport to category 2 ILS ? That way planes could land in this fog.

These fog delays and cancellations seem to happen with a fairly regular occurrence. I can’t imagine that this would enhance YXS chances of becoming a major cargo hub.

How come these job losses aren’t being reported in the news?

herbster some can land in the fog. I was on a private jet about 10 years ago that landed in the fog at PG airport. The pilot’s eyes were rapidly flickering between two instrument readouts as he brought it down. He never looked out the windshield until we hit the pavement. He did a masterful job but still I would have preferred to have been in the back with the rest of the passengers I tell ya. (And Dragonmaster this is because big business own the news.) Of course IMO.

Would be nice if vehicels would turn their lights on when its foggy. White truck in the fog is virtualy invisible unil its really close. I heard it long before I saw it.
