Companies Receive Awards for Work on Ft. St. John Hospital Project

Ft. St. John, B.C. – Construction companies that have worked on the Ft. St. John Hospital and Peace Villa project have been officially recognized by their peers for their work.
The Vancouver Regional Construction Association has awarded Gold Awards of Excellence to the joint venture of Stuart Olson Dominion- ACCIONA , in the category of General Contractor over $40 Million.
Flynn Canada was presented with the Chairman’s Trade Award for its work on the same project.
This is the second year a company involved with the hospital project has been recognized with a Gold Award. Last year, the VRCA awarded a Gold Award of Excellence in the category of Mechanical Contractor over $3 million to PML Professional Mechanical Ltd for its work on the Ft. St. John Hospital –Peace Villa project.
The Gold Awards are awarded to those who demonstrate their use of special techniques and procedures, new materials and additional artistic or innovative features on their projects.
“The Gold Award winners are truly leaders in the industry and have delivered great examples of world class projects around the Province,” says Fiona Famulak, President of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association.
In this year’s competition, there were 42 total entrants and 38 projects considered. The total value of projects considered in this year’s competition represented $1.1 billion of construction throughout B.C.
The new Ft. St. John Hospital-Peace Villa project was built at a cost of $297.9 million and officially opened its doors in June of 2012.
