Air Quality Advisory Continued for Prince George

Prince George, B.C. – The air quality advisory issued for Prince George on Thursday will continue into the weekend.
Ministry of Environment Air Quality Meteorologist Dennis Fudge says the high pressure ridge sitting over the region is weakening slower than expected. The ridge resulted in light winds and foggy conditions which caused pollutants to remain trapped in the bowl area. Even though rolling averages are now below the provincial objective levels, high hourly particulate levels, as well as odour, are occurring over the area.
The Air Quality Advisory is expected to be in effect until further notice, with an update at 11 Saturday morning, or earlier if conditions improve.
