Prince George, B.C. – Fire officials haven’t identified the substance which resulted in a Hazmat response Friday afternoon but they do say it turned out to be innocuous.
At approximately 1:30 PM Prince George Fire Rescue responded to an unknown spill on Highway 16 West near Westgate. On arrival crews found a 45-gallon drum on the highway which witnesses reported had fallen off an eastbound truck.
Highway 16 was closed for about 2 hours while hazardous material technicians isolated the drum. They determined the product in it was not hazardous. Crews from Yellowhead Road and Bridge removed the barrel for disposal.
