Terrace RCMP Officer Recognized For Community Policing Efforts

Burnaby, BC – Terrace RCMP Officer, Constable Angela Rabut, has been recognized for her efforts to foster community policing in her community.
Constable Rabut is the Terrace Detachment’s Media Relations Officer and oversees the Auxiliary Constable Program in her community. She’s credited with building a dedicated team of volunteers who organize a number of events to support those in need or at-risk in Terrace. Yesterday, she was one of 22 individuals and groups honoured at the 16th annual Ministry of Justice Community Safety and Crime Prevention Awards in Burnaby, marking the start of BC’s Crime Prevention Week. In addition to her involvement with Crime Stoppers, restorative justice, and school liaison, Constable Rabut has worked to establish the Ksan Girls Group – a mentorship program that connects high-risk teen girls with female role models in positive activities.
Another regional recipient recognized for outstanding community service was Gordon Beerda of Smithers, who was honoured with a Volunteer Award for his instrumental role in bringing the Crime Stoppers program to the Bulkley Valley in 1997. He currently sits at the board chair.

Congratulation Cst. Rabut. You have my utmost respect for your tireless work at connecting with your community, particularly your efforts to divert youth into a healthier direction, given the social pressures these at-risk youth face, you (and them) need all the help you can get.
