Making Someone’s Dream Come True

Monday, November 4, 2013 @ 3:50 AM

Prince George, BC – Less than two weeks remain in the Prince George Hospice Society’s Dream Home Lottery and then one lucky ticket holder will see the dream of a new home realized.

For the society, profits from the lottery will fulfill not just a dream, but a need, to support three of the ten palliative care beds at the Hospice House on Clapperton Street.  Since opening as the first free-standing hospice in BC back in 1995, the home expanded from seven beds in 2009.  Northern Health funding provides for those original beds.

This year’s lottery home is located in the Creekside Properties development at 7693 Stillwater Crescent.  The 1936-square foot home is valued at approximately $450-thousand dollars.  The chances of winning will be 1 in 8,999, if all of the $100 tickets sell by the November 14th draw date.

Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket can do so at the home daily between 11am and 7pm, or call toll-free 1-866-419-7604.

Its at this time in their campaign that I think the early bird draws hurt their sales. They should do away with the early bird draws, and just make people wait until the draw date for everything. IMHO

This was the first time I encountered the obstacle that one establishment insisted on cash and would not accept a credit card for purchasing a ticket. Had to make a trip to my bank’s ATM to get cash. That might have had an impact on sales as well.

BCRacer there is always two home draws in PG per year, and I think they both do good. Gorgeous houses. $100 ticket and better chances than the lotto. Also it goes to great causes too of course.

I think this is only the 3rd year for hospice home lottery. Spruce kings have been doing it for years. Not sure who else has run one?

This house is on one of the least desirable lots in the development, I wonder if that had an impact on sales?
