Friday, November 8, 2013 @ 11:45 PM

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack won the battle of the wolves in Prince George on Friday night against the UNBC Timberwolves. The Timberwolves fell 72-62 to put them at 1-2, while the WolfPack add their first regular season win and move to 1-2.

Will Ondrik (Vernon, BC) came out strong for the WolfPack netting 22 points and was flawless from the foul-line. Ondrik went 11-11 from the line and 5-7 from the field. Josh Wolfram (Kamloops, BC) added 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Fifth year forward Charles Barton (Vernon, BC) was the top scorer for both teams with 23 points, while Franck Olivier Kouagnia put up 11 points and nine boards.

The WolfPack flew out of the gates, winning the tip and pushing the ball up the floor. Quick ball movement gave Wolfram an open shot from behind the arc, a shot he’s not afraid to take. Wolfram nailed the three to start the game. Both teams worked their passing game to create open opportunities and were going shot for shot in the first period.

During the second period the Timberwolves fell flat, getting outscore 19 to nine. The Timberwolves trailed 32-21 at half, a deficit that would follow them through the remainder game. While the WolfPack worked to hold on to their lead the Timberwolves battled to come back. A few late threes brought the T-Wolves within five but it was not enough to stop the WolfPack. Ondrik was solid from the line for TRU; down the stretch when UNBC was forced to foul Ondrik kept the WolfPack’s lead alive. At the end of 40 minutes the WolfPack downed the Timberwolves 72-62.

Both teams play again tomorrow night at 8 p.m. PST at the Northern Sport Centre. Catch the game live at canadawest.tv
