Still Need Volunteers for Operation Red Nose

Friday, November 22, 2013 @ 3:47 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Just a week to go before  Operation Red Nose is ready to  make sure you get home safely from your  holiday partying but there is still a need  for volunteers.

The number of volunteers is inching toward the 200 mark,  nearly two thirds of the way to the  volunteer  goal.

“We are thrilled with the response so far as we drive towards our goal of having 350 volunteers who will contribute to road safety during the holiday season,” said Andrea Johnson, Operation Red Nose spokesperson. “They will meet a lot of people, have fun, and feel great about helping someone out.”

Operation Red Nose will be at the Spruce Kings game at the Coliseum tomorrow, hoping some of the fans will  want to be part of the Operation Red Nose team.

The first night of service begins Friday, Nov. 29 and continues nine nights, Nov. 30, Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, and New Year’s Eve.

Relying on volunteer road teams of three, the service not only allows party-goers get themselves home safely, but their vehicles too. It’s available to anyone who does not feel fit to drive their own vehicle home.

“Even though we are a week away from our first night of service, there is still time to apply online at www.ornpg.ca, print off the application form and drop it off at the Community Policing office on 5th and Brunswick,” said Johnson. “They can also call volunteer co-ordinator Karen at 250-961-6465 for more information.”

Hope my pizza/barf comment didn’t’ discourage anyone. Remember. NO pizza on the way home. I shouldn’t use that nasty term “barf”. Let’s call it what it was called during Expo 86. It was called a “protein spill”. Sounds better, eh? Ha ha ha.

Do you need more drivers or less people consuming alcohol?

“Fewer” people. You’re welcome.
