I don’t understand why they just didn’t close the schools this morning. I dropped my kid off this morning and only 5 kids in her class had shown up.
It is illegal to close the schools. At the very least they are an open shelter for children that are sent to school and cannot(aren’t able) to return home.
This was put into law several years ago when school was closed and a child unknowingly went to school and died from hypothermia in the school grounds because it was locked.
Thanks Hummer, I did not know that.
How many of these buses had chains on? Okay now I am all for the wonderful and kind bus drivers BUT chains should be mandatory from Dec1- March1. The bus gets stuck often and our driver refuses to chain up. Last year one event lasted several hours for the kids sitting there and unable to use a washroom. There needs to be common sense.
Chains are mandatory from the end of October for “all” commercial vehicles. School buses are commercial just like Lomak and Excel but they don’t make money throwin’ the iron. It’s way easier to call in and tell YRB or the City to do their job. Dragonmaster or cole525 could tell you all about the bottom line. They know everything about everything. Ya don’t even have to ask em’ they’ll tell ya.
perpetualmommy – have you talked to the company? Have to talked to School District #57?
What about other parents getting together if you have so much problem?
My son used the bus system for quite a few years and we had no problem.
Another solution – drive your kid(s) into school. There are always solutions. :)
NEW song for all the drivers out there it is called putting on the bling. NOT really that hard to throw on a set of singles might even save a life someday
