Hack Attack Slows 250
Prince George, B.C. – The 250News website is back to normal now, after a hacker attack on a Telus wireless customer.
ABC Communications’ Jeff Petkau says someone was targeting a specific IP address with what is known as a “distributed Denial of Service” attack. He says that kind of attack sends an incredible amount of traffic to that one IP address, and it slows down all the systems that are linked with that IP address’s service provider. “It’s like death by a thousand bee stings.”
While 250News was not the target of the attack, the volume of traffic directed to our service provider slowed the system, and, for a short time ( 15 minutes), made our home page appear in some weird configurations.
The disruption lasted only a short period of time, but, had tech experts very busy.

Yeah I could not log onto the 250 website at around 2:30 pm. It would load partway and just stall, glad to see things up and running :-)
Wow ! And no one has blamed the mayor yet LOL.
Probably China’s Sinopec getting antsy about Enbridge resistance up here. Who knows these days? Could also be CSIS or the NSA, we are all being watched to a greater or lesser extent every time we log onto our computers.
Hopefully, CSIS and the NSA have far bigger fish to fry than the people who visit this website.
Anyway, I’m disappointed People#1 didn’t blame all of this on Harper.
So how many people are employed to watch individual computers. I suppose China Russia and other countries do not spy.
Umm⦠JB if you read the news story carefully, you will realize the attack was not on this website, or anyone using this website. It was 250 News “service provider” that was slowed down due to the attack.
