Tatla Lake Man Faces String of Weapons Charges
Tatla Lake, B.C.- A 63 year old Tatla Lake man is facing a string of charges following an investigation by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC.
In June of this year, investigators started probing allegations that a person was trafficking firearms and prohibited devices.
An arrest was made in late August, and a search warrant executed on the Highway 20 residence resulted in the seizure of 183 firearms of various makes, models, and calibres, along with tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition and prohibited devices such as over-capacity magazines. Now facing a total of 24 counts, is 63 year old Gerald Peter Kirby.
The charges include:
– Possession for the purpose of weapons trafficking (4 counts)
– Weapons trafficking (4 counts)
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm (3 counts)
– Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (3 counts)
– Careless use of a firearm (10 counts)
Kirby has no previous criminal record and is currently not in custody as he awaits his next court appearance, which has yet to be determined.
