Prince George, B.C.- Winter officially arrives in most of B.C. this morning at 9:21 am Pacific . In terms of sunlight, this will be the shortest day of the year for  sunlight.

After today, as each day goes by, the sun will rise a little higher in the sky and  set a little later in the day.

To celebrate the  arrival of Winter, there will be a special Winter Solstice  Lantern Walk through the downtown after sunset.

The walk starts at the Civic Centre rink at 7 tonight.  Anyone interested in taking part should muster around the giant snowy owl at the Civic Centre rink. BYOL (Bring Your Own Lantern) The walk will make its way through downtown  Prince George, and end up back at the Civic Centre Plaza by about 7:30.
