Snow Just Keeps on Coming

Prince George, B.C. – A snowfall warning reamins in effect for Prince George and much of the Province. For Prince George, a further 10- 20 centimeters of snow is expected before this system pushes out of the region.
A Pacific low pressure system will move southward down the BC coast today. The associated warm front spread snow into the Central Interior last night giving between 10 to 15 centimetres to a few regions by 4 this morning.
The snow will continue all day and then end early this evening as the Pacific system moves to the south. The Williston region and most of the Yellowhead should receive 5 cm or less.

So what is the official amount that has fallen so far? I would say about 10 to 12 cm in the bowl.
According to a detailed look at the provincial situation, the highest snowfall is supposed to be south of PG, specifically in the Chilcotin region.
Assuming that we only have 10 to 12 cm, I suppose the City has not started plowing yet. Then we have the further complication of the weekend coming up during which the City never really did plow.
Couple more days after the weekend, and we have Xmas, then another day before the next weekend, then New Years ….. so, we can easily predicts that we will have a mess to look forward to, no matter how much more snow falls.
So, who can we blame?
Green? James? Stolz? Hall? Everitt? Bigelow? Mother Nature? The guy earning over $100,000 who directs snow clearing operations?
I know, maybe Hammond who promoted that a city should be built here.
Gus. The City hasn’t finished plowing in some areas, so now they will probably start over, and these people will be in one hell of a mess for a while.
Snow removal, has been looked after in Prince George, much the same as our roads. In other words do as little as possible over the longest period of time, so that you can spend the money on other projects, like a monolithic Police Station, Community Energy Systems, Increase in wages and benefits, Cameron St Bridge, Winter Games , etc; etc; etc;.
I expect once the contract is signed, and going into an election year, we will soon see snow clearing like we’ve never seen before, and we will see paving, and road repair coming out of our ying, yangs.
After the election and the Winter Games, if the same crew remains in office, it will be back to minimal service while we try to accumulate money for the performing arts centre, and perhaps a new swimming pool (or major rehab) and maybe throw in a new Fire Department building, and whatever else is being considered.
All the Citizens of Prince George have to do, is keep their wallets open to ensure that the City has sufficient money to do all the wonderful things they want to do. Hopefully people will keep their mouths shut, so that the City can concentrate on spending money without any interruptions .
So a plow truck just went by my office on 22nd, both plows up….just high-blading along. Maybe he was confused? didn’t realize the plows have to be down to move the snow??
If we are going to pay a special snow plow levy through our taxes, that’s fine. It would just be nice to see a snow plow every once in a while.
Wow, our street got plowed yesterday, just nine days after there was plenty to plow and just before it started snowing again!
9 days to get your street plowed in a City that has basically 5 months of winter every year is a disgrace.
The City needs to solve this problem, or downsize the City. If you cant look after the basic needs of the City, then return those areas that were amalgamated in the seventies. Ie; South Ft George, Pineview, Hart Highway. If these portions of the City were returned to the Regional Districts, and South Ft George once again became a Hamlet, at least they would be able to get the proper services that they pay taxes for.
This would leave the City with the basic area it had before amalgamation, with a population of some 40,000.00 people, and maybe then they could get the job done.
Give the Pulp Mills back to the Regional District so that they get the tax dollars, to help offset the cost of services.
Prince George should **put up** or **bail out**
What colour is a Prince George snow plow? Failed to see any so far this winter. Maybe painted white to blend in with the scenery.
9 days in our area to get the street plowed.
Green, Gaal, Jones, should all be gone.
