Plenty of Dippers at Ness Lake

Wednesday, January 1, 2014 @ 4:23 PM

International exchange students 15 year old Vanessa Kohler from German, and 17 year old Vilde Hustad from Norway make the plunge

Prince George, B.C. – Maybe it was the relatively mild weather, but today's Polar Dip at the Ness Lake Bible Camp had a very high participation rate.

With between 75 and 80  people waiting to take their turn  to plunge into Ness Lake,  it took  the better part of  an  hour to  get everyone in and out of the 2 degree water.

The Polar Dip is a fundraiser for the Bible Camp, and today's participation level was  higher than has been seen in recent years.

(at right,  "Spiderman" prepares to back flop – all photos 250News)

With  folks dressed in costumes that ranged from  Elvis to Spiderman,  Superman to Clowns and  Princesses,  the dip saw them  step into the lake,  then  take the  dunk.

Shecana International exchange students Vanessa Kohler  from Germany and Vilde Hustad  from Norway (show in photo above) said  the water "wasn't too bad".

Today's event raised  about $7,000 for the Bible Camp.

Can’t wait for a Quran Camp charitable event, now that would get my financial support!

Seek and ye shall find. Waiting is not necessary. ;-)

Why a Quaran Camp?

Because it:
• Encourages students to enjoy Hifz al-Quran
• Teaches the methodology of Hifz al-Quran
• Helps students integrate Hifz into their daily routine
• Provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge from Kutub al-Dawah
• Creates a platform to make new friends and meet new people
• Makes the summer holidays full of fun and activity.

Sort of something like a Bible Camp:

• Encourages students to enjoy the teachings of the Bible
• Teaches the message of the Bible
• Helps students integrate the Bible’s teachings into their daily routine
• Provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge from the writings of the Bible
• Creates a platform to make new friends and meet new people
• Makes the summer holidays full of fun and activity.

May God/Allah bless you in the new year.

The dippers were out at Ness Lake? I thought they were all out protesting the Enbridge pipeline!

(flame suit on)

It was “too cold” for the demonstraters. Only the true ambitious people were outdoor

Not true DPJ. I know people who have been spending long periods at the ‘Unistot’en bush camp, set up to protect Wetsuwet’en territory from pipelines. See their web site: http://unistotencamp.wordpress.com/ and I have visited the St’at’imc blockade camp near Melvin Creek (off Duffy Lake Road). See http://sutikalh.resist.ca/index.html. Don’t think that First Nations people and environmentalists don’t spend time in the bush.

Billposer I am sure authorities are aware and aware of your involvement

Given that Harper declared First Nations and Environmentalists as “enemies” of Canada, no doubt our spy agency, and the authorities, are aware of anyone’s support or involvement with the anti-pipeline movement.

Kinda tough keeping track of more than 50% of British Columbians who are against said pipeline. Not to worry, maybe Harper can keep track of us using a Star of David or some other similar gestapo method!

Reading the comment tread, anyone else see where the discussion topic changed from dippers at Ness Lake to Enbridge?

Good Ole JB… don’t like the topic at hand… change it!

Spiderman turned out for the event, finally a superhero has arrived to get us out of the top 10 crime cities. Wonder if we will see photos by Parker in the Citizen?

People: “Good Ole JB… don’t like the topic at hand… change it!”

You say that as if you haven’t done the very same thing! It is to laugh.

Anyway, oftentimes in conversation the subject changes and the participants are expected to keep up.
