Tire Thieves Target Dorm Parking Lot At UNBC
Prince George, BC – Quite a rude awakening for four vehicle owners this morning, as they discovered their 'rides' on blocks…
Prince George RCMP say it appears an organized ring may be responsible for this rash of tire thefts that occurred in the dormitory parking lot at the University of Northern BC sometime overnight.
Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says the vehicles were in close proximity to one another. All four vehicles were jacked up, had their tires and rims stolen, and were sitting on wooden logs this morning. Corporal Douglass says the thieves tried to remove the tires from a fifth vehicle nearby, but it was equipped with wheel locks.
"These types of thefts are very unusual," he says. "The thief or thieves need to be organized and have equipment to lift the vehicles and remove the tires."
The thefts occurred sometime between 9pm last night and 7am this morning. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

I hope these scumbags get double the karma back.
Heh time to review security staffing at UNBC. Clearly someone dropped the ball on that patrol check (more than likely sleeping in a janitorial locker).
I wonder what company is contracted for security up there or do they hire their own?
Won’t be contracting that company.
Wowww nothing is sacred anymore>> Here I thought UNBC had the best security
Keep in mind, a couple guys and a floor jack and you could have four tires off in under two minutes easily. I have no idea of the layout or schedule but I don’t think pulling tires off between security checks would be overly hard.
Check the want ads. But then again, maybe they were special ordered. Could happen.
If people didn’t buy stolen property who would the crooks sell their booty too? Other crooks I guess.
At least they were nice enough to put the vehicles up on logs.
I guess they needed money for tuition fees.
May have been the “profs” supplementing there income. Those who can “do” those who can’t “get tenure at UNBC”.
UNBC typically has two guards on 24 hours a day, unless someone calls in sick or on holidays. That was a decision of Management and is no reflection on the guards. Kind of hard to be the first aid contact, opening / closing the entire campus and doing patrols by yourself. At one time there was always three on per shift, but you know budgets rule.
A guard risking his/her life for a set of wheels and tires is a bad idea.
The shysters will be gone by the time the police arrives with sirens wailing…
