More Flu Clinics Arranged
Prince George, B.C. – Response to two flu vaccination clinics held last Friday and Saturday in Prince George, was so good, two more clinics have
been scheduled.
If you haven't already received your flu shot, you can get one today from 4:30 this afternoon to 7:00 tonight, or, from 1p.m. to 7 p.m. on
Friday. Both clinics are being held at the Northern Interior Health Unit on Edmontn Street, across from the University Hospital of Northern
B.C.
The incidence of influenza in the Northern Interior is said to be normal, but a serious outbreak in neighbouring Alberta has convinced many now is the time to get the shot.
The list of those who qualify for a free shot is long and includes anyone who may be visiting a patient in the hospital or a care facility.
While there have been concerns raised that supply of the flu shot is dwindling, Northern Health says it has an adequate supply and is distributing it throughout the region as needed.
Medical Health Officer, Dr. William Osei says the first peak of the flu has already hit, and the second will hit in about three weeks from now. It takes about 10 days for a flu shot to have full effect on the body, so Dr. Osei has advised those who want to get the shot to get it as soon as possible.
