Prince George, B.C.- UNBC Athletics have been given a boost, thanks to the Integris Credit Union.
Integris has announced it will be pumping $25 thousand a year for the three years into the Athletics program. It is the largest single corporate donation to the Timberwolves.
Now that the Timberwolves are part of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) , they are required to provide scholarships. The funding from Integris will create four Integris named scholarships valued at $2,000 each for student athletes. That will help in the recruitment and retention of top notch athletes for the Timberwolves Basketball and Soccer programs.
The balance of the annual funding will provide financial support for other unnamed awards for student athlete tuition.
UNBC’s Athletics Director, Loralyn Murdoch says the pledge will allow the coaches to offer sustainable awards for the next three years, as well as help fund exhibition expenses.
