No Significant Change in Building Permit Values

Tuesday, January 21, 2014 @ 3:58 AM

Prince George, B.C. – There is very little change in the value of building permits issued last year compared to 2012.

The 2013 report presented to Prince George City Council  indicates there were 487 permits issued in 2013 with  a total value of $116,243,448.00 .  That total value is very close to the $116,369,093.00 value of permits issued in 2012.

What is  noticeably different is that there were fewer permits in 2013 (487)  compared to the number issued in 2012 (573).

There were fewer single family dwelling permits issued last year (91) compared to 116 issued in 2012.  There was an increase in the  number and value of new commercial  permits issued,  as there were  13 such permits, valued at just under $39 million issued  in 2013, compared to  9 such permits valued at  just under  $7.25 million in 2012.

Commercial gains were offset by industrial  losses.  In 2012 there were 7 new industrial permits  valued at $33.8 million while in 2013 there were 4 valued at $15.34 million.

Maybe developers are taking Mayor Green’s advice….”if you don’t like how things are run in Prince George”…move someplace else…or maybe developers are saying… don’t even move here in the first place…thank’s Mayor Green for being such a promoter of our city…and you are the Mayor? :(

Sure hope real estate sales people don’t tell their future Prince George bound clients to read Opinion 250. A frightening daily account of how daily happenings are perceived by a group of people who are not impressed as to how this ‘burg is governed. Casting aspersions daily on the shortcomings of our elected officials. Potholes in the summer and fall, 4 inch ice with ruts to the pavement during snow months. check the side roads off of Gladstone in CH. As examples. Maybe my last comment will get those streets plowed so when you do go up there, you will say I don’t know what I’m talking about. If it gets done soon, you’re welcome.

Maybe they’re going to greener pastures
