Conservative Party Launches PG-Valemount Constituency Association

Saturday, January 25, 2014 @ 6:47 AM

Prince George, BC – BC Conservative leadership hopeful, Dan Brooks, will be at the founding meeting of the party's Prince George-Valemount Constituency Association later today…

The meeting is set for 1pm at the Carmel Restaurant.  Brooks is in the city as part of a three-community swing through the area – he will be in Smithers for a meet-and-greet at the Aspen Inn on Tuesday evening, and will attend the Nechako Lakes Constituency Association AGM in Vanderhoof next Friday evening.

Brooks announced his candidacy last September.  Originally from Vanderhoof, he ran as the conservative candidate in the Nechako Lakes riding in last May's election, losing to incumbent Liberal MLA John Rustad.

Also in the running to replace leader John Cummins, who resigned in July, is Rick Peterson of Vancouver.  The leadership election will be held on April 11th.

could be worthwhile listening to what this guy has to say. maybe his crystal ball is a tad brighter than MISTY CHRISTYS

I don’t see the Conservatives leaving the BC Liberal bed anytime soon. To do so would split the vote and allow the NDP to be elected.

Conservatives will continue to hold their noses while bedding down with the Liberals because they know they can’t go it alone.

ndp elected????? That’s a good one, they can’t even get anyone to throw their hat in the ring to lead that rag tag bunch of losers and have delayed the convention till September in the hope that someone is willing to get their ass kicked by Cristy in 2016.

What are your plans people#1- you would fit right in with Dix, James and Skelly and be about as unelectable.

Personal attacks aside etwitt her are the numbers;

Last year before the election, the current standings in the legislature were: 45 Liberals, 36 New Democrats and four Independents. It was so close the Liberals had to monitor their MLA attendance in the Legislature to ensure it’s majority remained during legislative proceedings. Too many sick and/or away Liberal MLAs, would have resulted in a non-confidence vote by a majority NDP opposition.

The Liberals did slightly better as a majority in the last election, but not by much, gaining 5 seats over the last election.

Point being? The Liberals still desperately need, and are getting, Conservative support, without that support the Liberals, nor the Conservatives would never win another election. These are the facts and truths on this matter.

There are no facts or truths in politics, that is the first lesson when becoming involved with political issues.

Facts and truths vary by party and never the twain shall meet.

Quite simple.

The NDP are in for a rude awakening next Federal election.
