Next Wave Of Game Volunteers Sought

Sunday, January 26, 2014 @ 4:11 AM

Prince George, BC – The 2015 Canada Winter Games Committee is once again looking to bolster its volunteer numbers, as the one year countdown draws ever closer…

With the one-year out celebration, featuring the band, Hedley, just under three weeks away, the Games Committee has announced four upcoming Volunteer Open Houses to be held at the College of New Caledonia.

While seeking a total 4500 volunteers to help pull off the largest multi-sporting and cultural event the region has ever hosted, Games Services Managers and residents interested in being involved in venue operations are being specifically sought at this time.

The first open house is set for Tuesday, January 28th, between 6:30pm and 8:30pm in CNC Room 1-723.  An afternoon session will be held between 10am and noon on Saturday, February 1st in Room 1-306.  The final two are set for Monday, Feb 3rd, and Wednesday, Feb 5th, between 6:30-8:30pm in Rooms 1-306 and 1-723, respectively.  Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP 2015Vteams@gmail.com

if it wasn’t for volunteers, those who make all the money wouldn’t!

and if it wasn’t for charities, the government would have to pay the bills they are supposed to…

funny how that happens….

I never asked for this..
I wasn’t asked if I wanted it…
I have no desire to pay for it…
but will like it or not …
so a few can gain from it and roll in the glory..while laughing under their breath at how gullible we are….

Exactly my thoughts

I agree…. I wonder how much volunteers are signed up now

I forgot to add how much is this already costing the average tax payer in this community

I got “volunteered” to pay for this.

I’m in your camp, harbinger!

My comment from December 8th of last year still applies:

“I did not ask for these games, I will not support them, not in a box with a fox, not in a house with a mouse, I will not support them Sam I am!”

I missed the Canada Winter Games in Grande Prairie Ab in 1995, and the Games in Whitehorse Yukon in 2005, and it appears that I will miss the Games in Prince George in 2015.

Tsk, Tsk.

I can’t wait to see how expensive tickets are for the average “fan”. This is after all the important people are given tickets first of course.

Wow. Just… wow.

Generally I do not like spectator sports nor do I enjoy team sports whether as a participant or as a spectator.

So, for those who enjoy such things, I am happy for them. I hope that some of them will support the things I enjoy. ;-)

So, are you volunteering JB?

Yes gus, I will be volunteering. Thanks for asking.

My wife had vounteered but they expected her to pay for her training. (Several hundred bucks plus she would have to a day off.). That is not really my idea of volunteering.
