BC Premier Extends Mineral Exploration Tax Credit
Vancouver- Premier Christy Clark, announced today, government will extend the 10 Million dollar BC mining flow through share tax credit to cover 2014 , to support mining and exploration investment.
Speaking to the BC Mineral Exploration Roundup in Vancouver, Clark said, BC's mineral exploration and mining industry is a great comeback story. She added that it supports good jobs across the province , and the best is yet to come.
The BC mining flow through, share tax credit, helps junior exploration companies attract investment and to continue to seek new discoveries.
The preliminary regional estimates for exploration expenditures in 2013 are $476 million, which is the second highest on record.
About 30,000 people are employed in mineral exploration .

And over the years this tax credit has cost the BC taxpayer 290 million, return will trickle back when the gas starts to flow. We subsidize the road building and clearing then they cap it and wait for 10-15-20 years for the right market. The investment in drilling would happen at any rate its what the industry does drill and cap like one industry VP said, government wants to give hell yes we will take it, why not.
Yes.. and yet BC has the highest rate in Canada for child poverty…
So much for crusty clarks ” family first” election promise.
P Val, yeah we have the highest child poverty, because we attract welfare recepients from other provinces, who dole out a lot less.
P Val states; “yeah we have the highest child poverty, because we attract welfare recipients from other provinces, who dole out a lot less.”
Umm… if they came from other provinces who dole out less welfare, would not those provinces have higher child poverty rates, than BC?
Conversely, if BC doles out more welfare than other provinces wouldn’t our child poverty rate be lower?
Research does not support your assertions P Val. BC ranks fourth lowest in welfare payment rates out of 13 provinces and territories.

Last time I checked almost all children are poor. My kids don’t make near the minimum on their allowance.
Oh no ! People#1, you are not trying to argue with a poster that is on your side, are you ?
Yeah, I remember the days of Mike Harris.
Mike was the premier of Ontario and he was handing out free bus tickets to anyone on welfare in Ontario. Free bus tickets one way to Vancouver…
It wasn’t just Harris either. Rob Ford’s done it too. So did Alberta’s Ralph Klein.
Yet another handout to big industry. Seems like an awful socialist thing to do in a so-called free enterprise society. In this case it isn’t free enterprise. There is nothing free about taxpayers footing the tab.
People …… ummm .. it was not my post you cut and pasted..
I also did not talk about welfare or any other kind of payment..
I just stated the facts.. sorry if the facts mislead you ;)
“It wasn’t just Harris either. Rob Ford’s done it too. So did Alberta’s Ralph Klein”
And once they reach Abbotsford, they hand out bus tickets to PG …. ;-)
We need to hand out bus tickets to Whitehorse ….
I could swear we had the child poverty discussion before and we actually were not the highest if the same measurement method was taken …. without looking into that again, I think People#1 is on the right track.
I love Nunavut …..

My apology to P Val, it was “He spokes” comment that I was responding to.
“government will extend the 10 Million dollar BC mining flow through share tax credit to cover 2014 , to support mining and exploration investment.”
Hmm… more corporate welfare, the mining industry gets more government handouts than any other country, must be why 70% of the world’s mining companies are Canadian.
And we all know from my previous post just how badly they are behaving in other countries… murder and gang rape, that ought to teach those locals to play ball by Canadian rules!

Thanks BC Liberals!
The BC Liberals have always thought that they are above the law Everyone new that they would lose this court battle but when they are using our tax dollars they do not give a rats a–.
Figured people1st :) have a good night
Oops, could that be as high as 75% of the world’s mining companies are based in Canada?
http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/75-of-the-worlds-mining-companies-are-based-in-canada
Oh Canada we stand on guard for thee… and for all those other unfortunate people in other countries who dare opposed our Canadian mining companies!
If it’s on the internet, then it must be true!
If it is not on the internet, it does not exist. …;-)
