Johnny Cash Walkus you da man!
A comment made in the “Home Invasion in College Heights” story last week…
“A violent invasion of ones home is a heinous act that should be met with severe punishment as a deterrent.”
So how does that compare to a violent invasion on one’s person?
Depends on whose justice system is used. This case will probably be a sweatlodge punishment if found guilty.
show a little sensibility dragon. what if it was your mother/sister/daughter that was sexually assaulted? not so joke worthy then, right?
You found my comment to be a joke? No joke intended.
The more I think about it, what part of my comment do you think is funny?
Hmm… to drive home a point, think a different tact is required here.
I loved the movie Shawshank Redemption, some parts of the movie bothered me though. Perhaps if Dragon watched the movie and put himself in Tim Robin’s main character during the prison rape scene, he might begin to understand the absolute terror, and humiliation associated with forcible penetration.
But then again, this takes “empathy”, the unique ability to place one’s self in another person’s situation and understand what that person has, or is, going through!
My comments are in no way referring to what the scumbag did to the poor women. It has everything to do with our piss poor justice system. If reading comprehension is that difficult for you, go back to school.
Wow, read through your previous comments Dragon, this is the first time you even acknowledged there was a victim! Progress is made in small steps.
Victims matter, and they should have more of a say in matters of justice, and criminal rehabilitation / reform, than any others.
But that’s just my opinion.
Dragonmaster’s comment of January 28 2014 8:54 AM was misunderstoodon by a few readers, what he states is, presently here in Canada there exits two sets of laws for two different classes of people.
Thanks furtree, nice to see someone else that understands the written english language.
furtree, i was referring to dragon’s post at 0651, when he writes ‘you da man’ to the guy accused of raping, threatening, and choking a woman in her Smithers home. i’m not sure what else that comment could be referring to. the sweatlodge comment is obvious and clear. dragon has an outdated, racially-biased worldview. the first comment though, not so clear. please clarify that one for me.

You gotta be drinking dude! I don’t see anywhere prior to this drunken comment from you, where you mentioned a victim. Why don’t you do everyone a favor. Stop attacking other posters or simply buzz off!
mikmak,I assume the remark ‘you da man’ made by Dragonmaster was a put down in slang, jive talk if you wish, in regards to Johnny (cash) Walkus, implying he is not much of a man for what he did.
This of course is my view, yours again may defer, but no real harm in that, we are all entitled to our own views.
Please stop making sense furtree. ;-)
“the guy accused of raping, threatening, and choking a woman in her Smithers home”
I did not see the word “rape” in the article. They used “sexual assault”.
=======================================
then: “he might begin to understand the absolute terror, and humiliation associated with forcible penetration.”
Where does it say there was any “penetration”?
There was an assault. The assault was sexual.
If anyone does not understand the English language dealing with physical contact, it is ALL those above who made comments that upped the level of attack on a person rom what it states in the article.
=================================
As far as “you da man” goes, it is an ebonic expression typically spoken as praise of the person referred to. I assume it this case it was meant cynically.
To do so in this media, without the advantage of having body language attached to the written words, is precarious since the intended meaning is difficult to discern unless put in the intended context with some additional words to show the intended interpretation.
Of course, in that context, the intended cynicism will be lost.
Ain’t blogs fun …. ;-)
Cynicism, sarcasm, what ever you call it, both mikmak and I missed it, and in missing it, we though Dragon’s first comment insensitive, if not offensive.
