Digital Tech Trade Show Offers Insight For Local Businesses
Prince George, BC – Social media, data management, cloud services – DigiTalks North wants to make sure your business is getting the most out of these technology tools…
The College of New Caledonia is hosting a trade show/showcase aimed at connecting local, small and medium-sized enterprises with digital technology providers.
DigiTalks Planning Committee Member, Katy Suik, says the event grew out of a collaboration between CNC Industry Liaison Officer, Zelda Craig, and two local businesses, PG Web Design and Cachet Design Studio and is funded under the federal government's Digital Technology Adoption Program (DTAPP).
As part of the local program, Suik says two surveys underway – one for consumers, the other for businesses – to find out what types of technology they're using and where there may be gaps. "Part of the survey is to find out if northern BC is lagging behind the rest of the country, in terms of keeping up with digital technology."
DigiTalks North opens with keynote speaker, Tom Bechtel of Value Stream Solutions, discussion enterprise resource planning between 1pm and 3pm on Friday, the rest of the event goes between 9am and 5pm in CNC's Atrium on Saturday, with speakers scheduled throughout the day. The event is free and is open to the public, but RSVPs are required for Bechtel's Friday presentation and Steve Dotto's 'Taking control of Your TECH' discussion between 1pm and 2:30pm on Saturday. “cloud services”
Is that like rain dancing to conjure up clouds on those dry spells during the summer?
Clouds or as many used to refer to them as remote data servers …. another way to access what is supposed to be private data for hackers, big corporations and governments.
“clouds” see your data vaporize as the clouds in the sky …..
“clouds” see your data take on strange shapes and forms right in front of your eyes …. a sheep here …. a $ sign there … your aunt Martha’s facial profile near the horizon ……;-)
Who ever reads any of the agreements that all of us, to some degree, will agree to because if one does anything on the internet, one has to agree or else shut everything down.
So let me get this straight ….. does a local cloud service provider get access to all the data? …… if required by the RCMP, does the cloud service provider turn over your data stored on the service provider’s hardware? What if the hardware is sitting in the Cayman Islands?
