The team took  1st place  for Community Involvement: Most Money Raised at the recent Western Canada Business Competition.  The UNBC team was one of 12 taking part in the competition, and raised  $71 thousand dollars,  about 25% of the  overall total of $290 thousand.

That amount far surpassed the UNBC team’s goal of $60 thousand.

Most of the  dollars raised went to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation  for the Diagnostic Spect CT Scanner.

JDC West is the largest undergraduate business competition in Western Canada.

The three-day event is held in January of each year, and showcases academic competitions, athletic challenges, a social component, and a charity initiative. Over 600 students from 12 of Western Canada’s top universities compete in this competition.

Nice to see a story about our local kids where the photo isn’t a mug shot!

Another good one for UNBC and the students who took part in the competition! I’m proud to be a supporter of our great little university that is offering opportunities and changing lives of many young people in the North!
