Prince George, BC – The UNBC Timberwolves held a special ceremony between their final home games on Saturday night to say farewell to six graduating players…
After graduating just one player at the end of the 2012-13 season (Kady Dandeneau), the Women T-Wolves are losing four stellar players when this season wraps next weekend – Mercedes VanKoughnett, Emily Kaehn, Chelsey Thorne, and Jen Bruce.
Despite losing both weekend games to the nationally-ranked UFV Cascades (79-63 on Friday and 88-51 on Saturday), the four put in strong performances. VanKoughnett led with 19-points and nine rebounds on Saturday night, while Kaehn had 14-points and 12 rebounds.
The Men also fell to 4-and-16 on the season, losing 87-62 to the Cascade on Friday and by a closer margin of 67-61 on Saturday night. Charles Barton went out with 15-points and 16 rebounds Saturday night, Stark was 13 and six.
The fifth years have a final weekend on the road, playing Mount Royal in Calgary next Friday and Saturday, before their university basketball careers draw to a close.
