Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested in Alberta
Prince George, B.C. – A man wanted in Prince George for sexual assault has been arrested in Alberta and will be returned to Prince George to face charges.
Acting on information provided by the Prince George RCMP, the Edmonton Police Service located and arrested Vernon Bret Faithful at a residence in Edmonton last Thursday, February 13th. Police say Faithful was wanted on a number of charges stemming from a violent, sexually-motivated attack in Prince George last summer.
On July 16th, 2013, police received a report of a sexual assault that occurred in a residence on the 1900 block of Upland Street. Then the next night the RCMP Crime Reduction Team located and arrested 22 year old Faithful, who they believed was responsible for the attack. Faithful had recently moved to Prince George from the Edmonton area.
On July 18th, 2013 Faithful was released from custody by a Justice of the Peace on several conditions, including a curfew. However police say that sometime around August 12th , Faithful fled back to Edmonton where it is believe he remained until his arrest last week. Arrest warrants were issued for the original offences and the Breach of Conditions.
Provincial Crown Counsel approved the following charges against Faithful:
- Break & Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence (2 counts)
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Sexual Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats
On February 7th, 2014, at the request of the RCMP, Provincial Crown Counsel extended the B.C.-wide arrest warrants to include the Province of Alberta. Faithful is expected to make his first appearance in Prince George Provincial Court tomorrow.
Comments
Faithful didn’t live up to his name when he was released last summer with several conditions.
This is the type of person our govt allows to walk among us. Why do the people of this prov/country allow our govt to do so?
And he will probably be released on his own recognizance with a promise to appear when his court date is set…..and round and round it goes.
