NH Patient Simulation Program Successful
Prince George, B.C. – Directors on the Northern Health Board received an update on the Patient Simulation Program at this week’s meeting in Valemount.
Four communities, Fort St. John, Quesnel, Prince George, and Terrace act as the patient simulation centres, although the mobility of the equipment means it can be moved to other locations.
NH Board chair Dr. Charles Jago says “the patient simulation program, in partnership with UNBC and the UBC Faculty of Medicine, has been extremely successful in providing exceptional training opportunities in the north.” He says use of it increased 10 per cent from 2012 to 2013.
Northern Health President and CEO Cathy Ulrich says “from a quality perspective patient simulations enables clinicians, physicians, and other clinic staff an opportunity to practice some of their clinical skills and learn how to work as a team with a patient simulator.”
