Terrace, BC – As part of the provincial government's effort to increase accessibility for people with disabilities, a community consultation will held in Terrace this evening…

Residents are invited to share their thoughts on how communities, businesses and government can better support people with disabilities between 7pm and 9:30pm at the Terrace Kermode Friendship Society. (click here to register)  Public consultations have been going on around the province since January 20th and will wrap up at the end of this month.  Online consultation will close on March 11th.

Some key areas laid out by the government centre on innovation; personal supports; work and contribution; housing and accessibility; social networks; and asset accumulation.  Issues and ideas raised during the consultations will be used to develop a White Paper that will be released publicly in May.  In June, a summit on the issues facing people with disabilities will be held – bringing together leaders from the disability community, business community, and government – to establish an action plan to improve accessibility.
