City Building Permit Values Down In January
Prince George, BC – The value of building and development permits issued in the City of Prince George for the first month of 2014 was down more than half-a-million dollars compared to January of 2013.
The total value of permits issued last month totalled $2.9-million dollars compared to just under $3.5-million issued over the same 30-day period last year. In January of 2012, the permit values totalled $2.5-million dollars. One project accounted for the lion's share of last month's total – a building permit was issued for $2.2-million dollars to construct the Van Kam Freightways Building at 2100 Olgivie Street.
In a report presented to City Councillors on Monday night, Director of Planning and Development, Ian Wells, says there were no new single family dwelling permits issued last month. Last year, permits were issued for two new homes, valued at $403-thousand dollars. While five were issued in January of 2012, for a dollar value of $1.2-million dollars.
