Britco the Latest Sponsor of the Games
Prince George, B.C. – The newest sponsor for the 2015 Canada Winter Games is Britco.
Britco, one of the world’s largest modular construction companies, will be supplying, in kind, the modular buildings needed for the Games.
Britco will also assist the Host Society with planning and development of the modular building program, including use, design and logistics for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
“We are looking forward to assisting the Host Society in meeting the space and logistics requirements for this exciting sporting and cultural event in Prince George,” says Britco President, Mike Ridley.
Once the Games have come to an end, Britco will transform four of the modular buildings into completely furnished libraries which will be donated to First Nations communities in northern BC as a legacy project for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
“This is a great opportunity for Britco to build on our experience of providing innovative and sustainable community legacies,” says Ridley. “We saw how—after the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games—our legacy buildings helped transform local communities, and we are committed to continuing that tradition with the 2015 Canada Winter Games.”
Britco opened a branch office in Prince George in 2013 and recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Lheidli T’enneh. As 250News reported earlier, the MOU would have Britco and the Lheidli T’enneh establish a joint venture modular building rental and workforce accommodation business to supply modular buildings to companies with major projects planned for traditional territories and other areas of northern BC. The partnership would provide economic opportunities, jobs and skills training in the construction trades for the Lheidli T’enneh.

Could be worse. It could have been Bitcoin.
Thank you to Britco for being a sponsor. I wish most of these Games were being paid for through sponsors.
I saw a picture on Facebook this week of a Can. Winter Games employee with a medal for taking part in a polar bear swim. Do they really need to spend money having these trinkets made up for the Mission staff that are probably using taxpayers’ dollars to fly from all over the country to come here?
They get an income deduction so taxpayer still pays.
so flawed.
