Prince George, B.C.- The Northworks! job fair at CNC offered those looking for work plenty of options.
From Conifex to Canfor, Corrections to the City of Prince George, KPMG, Scotiabank, the RCMP and Rocky Mountain Rangers, the employers were as diverse as one could imagine.
“I have received dozens of resumes” said Dustin Renaud of Geotech Drilling. He says people were looking for work as drill assistants, heavy duty mechanics, and administrative jobs. “CNC is a perfect fit for us because of the trades programs here” says Renaud.
Among the employers accepting resumes and sharing information, BC Corrections Service. There will need to be 200 Corrections officers when the new facility opens in Oliver in the next couple of years. Like other professions, Corrections Service is facing the same workforce pressures , namely an aging workforce that is preparing for retirement.
Recruiters for the RCMP were on hand to talk to prospective members. The RCMP will be holding an information session March 12th at the CNC lecture theatre from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. and one at UNBC on the 13th of March from 1:00 to 2:00.
