Friday, March 7, 2014 @ 9:28 AM

Prince George, B.C.- The College Heights Elementary French emersion  School  is in lock down, following a call to police that  a person, with a firearm, had been spotted in a bush near the school.

Police received the tip   just before 9 this morning, and have the  area secured.

“We have multiple police officers  and a police service dog in the area, looking for  a suspect” says Corporal Craig Douglass, media liaison for the Prince George RCMP.

“We are using an abundance of caution  not only because the report  was from an area close to the school, but because there is possibly a firearm involved” adds Douglass.  he says police are alson investigating the validity of the  call to police.

Corporal Douglass says  Police do not have any reason to believe any of the children in the  school are in any  danger .  The lockdown was  a safety measure, and further information will be coming from  SD57 Superintendent Brian Pepper, shortly.
