Prince George, B.C.- A woman has been taken to hospital with undetermined injuries following a crash on Chief Lake  Road near Discovery Road.

Emergency crews, including the Prince George Regional Highway Rescue Volunteers,  the Pilot Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and the the RCMP responded to the report of a single vehicle roll over  on Chief Lake Road near Discovery road earlier today.   When they arrived on scene, they  found a  blue mini van with a female driver and a child  inside.

Crews were able to  get the  child out of the vehicle  with  relative ease, but  had to  cut through the  van's roof and windshield in order to  safely  remove the  woman from the van.

Her condition is not known.

The factors which led to the crash have  not been  released.

How does this happen?

speed + rednecks – common sense = oops

Wow, looks like a lot of effort by a lot of people who give of themselves went in to this effort to assist this person and the child. My thanks to all of you, hope you’re there when I get in a bind. Appreciated much!

Texting could cause this too!

Very strange considering the road was bare.

This is what texting is causing….just terrible!

Enough with the pointless speculation as to the cause of the crash, you don’t know what happened, don’t cast aspersions on this woman’s character.

Thanks to all F.D. and P.G. Regional Highway Rescue volunteers! You guys and gals make a positive contribution to your community and we would all be poorer without you.

metalman.

That’s for sure! We really appreciate the work you guys and gals do. I wonder who would be doing it if you people weren’t around? Probably a lot more people wouldn’t be alive now. THANKS!

Hmmmm … I think it is a job and they get paid good money for it.

Please be appreciative of others who do good jobs and get paid for it.

The woman was taken to the hospital. Let us keep the doctors and nurses in mind too when we give accolades to people doing their job.

Thank you for your post Metalman. Gus, I believe that many, if not the majority of the responders to this accident were volunteers. In my opinion however, whether they get paid or not would not be in my mind if their hard work saved life or limb of a loved one. By the way, been hanging around the hospital a lot lately, the good nurses and doctors get thanks from me every time I’m there.

sorry for the double post

Gus- “I think it is a job and they get paid good money for it”.
The article says “Emergency crews, including the Prince George Regional Highway Rescue Volunteers, the Pilot Mountain Volunteer Fire Department”.
I am not sure- but I think volunteers actually don’t get paid.
Great job by all involved, both paid and unpaid.

Gus, I’m surprised by your response, was it intended to generate comment?
I would have thought that ‘everyone’ knew that Volunteer fire departments are staffed by Volunteers, further, the people of the Highway Rescue Society are also definitely Volunteers.
To elucidate: people who join a volunteer force such as those mentioned dedicate a large portion of their free time to training, practice, and the betterment of our regional communities. They do not receive any pay for their time.

Gus, you are famed for your research skills;) you let us down here!
