Prince George, B.C. – There was many a misty eye at this afternoon’s 1st anniversary celebration of the opening of the Kordyban Lodge.

The Lodge provides a home away from home for those who are on a cancer journey and receiving treatment at the Northern BC Cancer Centre.

In its first year of operation, the Lodge has  welcomed more than 900 guests,  including  more than 400 from the north west, and   more than 250 from the north east.

Eleanor Bailey ( in photo at right)  is from Williams Lake and is a guest at the Lodge.

She says there are so many wonderful things about the Lodge including the food and accommodation, but the best assets are the staff and volunteers. She turned to the staff and volunteers and offered a teary eyed thank you “Across the way (at the Cancer Centre) we have wonderful doctors and technicians who are succeeding in many ways in treating our diseased bodies, but you know, it’s these gals here, and guys, that are in every day, that treat our souls and I am very, very, thankful for that.”

The Lodge was made possible by the generous donations from corporations, individuals and families.  The Lodge bears the Kordyban name, in recognition of the significant donation made by the Kordyban family.   Mary Kordyban  is just  as proud today as she was  the day it officially opened “It’s just  something I never realized could really happen” says Mary Kordyban “I am proud,  and it’s  just, having the care and support for the  patients  just means the whole world to me because it’s something I had a desire for and it has come true.”

Two thumbs up on this story, two thumbs way up :-)

You have to feel good about the corporate generosity helping people all over northern BC. How wonderful it is to have a place like to go to when you are in need at a critical time in your life.

A very good success story for Northern BC
