Friday Free For All – March 28th, 2014
Friday, March 28, 2014 @ 12:00 AM
It is the last Friday of what has been an interesting March.
Spending scandals for the Liberals and NDP, the weather, the changing of the guard at the Prince George RCMP detachment, the weather, Performing Arts Centre review, the weather, and the unveiling of a whole new crop of potholes.
But today is all about what is on your mind.
It is time for the Friday Free For All.
You pick the topic, and please, obey the three simple rules.
Keep it clean
Keep it legal
No Bullying.

so, tell me this, if it were possible to somehow mine the ore deposit that is the goal of the ‘new prosperity’ mine proposal, ethically in a non destructive, or minimally destructive method, would fish lake still retain it’s properties? that is the properties that have given rise to its reverence by aboriginal, and other, peoples.
i have seen the 3-D type graphics that show the incredibly and uniquely huge deposit and i cannot help to think it is this deposit that gives the lake its ‘powers’.
i get the feeling that even if we could access the ore in a nearly invisible fashion, the lake would still be destroyed. destroyed in the sense that it would no longer be the special lake that it is.
your opinions would be appreciated :)
It’s just a lake.
Any mining etc should not have any negative impact on it, to say it has special powers is a little bit “out there” in my opinion.
What is going on with the Flight 370 investigation? So many obvious red flags, and yet so few answers to questions that should be asked.
We now know Jacob Rothschild came out of this as the biggest winner. It is odd that a bankster from the ruling bankster family⦠that founded the state of Israel and dominates the world elite⦠would come out a big winner from Flight 370. This is a red flag. The Jacob Rothschild company Blackstone is the majority owner of Freescale, the Texas military semiconductor company that lost 20 of its employees on Flight 370, 4 of which shared a US patent on the Freescale Semiconductor ARM microcontroller âKL-03â with the company. A patent that was approved 4-days after flight 370 went missing with special provisions for the transfer of all patent rights to the sole survivor⦠the company.
We also know that Israeli company System Planning Corporation specializes in Flight Termination Systems specifically designed to fly Boeing aircraft through remote operators. They famously announced prior to 9/11 that they had the capabilities to hi-jack a hi-jacked plane locking out the cockpit from any control in the cockpit of the aircraft by the pilots.
Now even more weird coincidences. Reports on planspotters.net that Israeli company GA Telesis bought the virtual identical twin sister Boeing 777-200 aircraft from Malaysian Airlines last November⦠and had it brought to Tel Aviv, where it has never been seen since.
——————————
http://www.planespotters.net/Production_List/Boeing/777/28416,N105GT-GA-Telesis-php
Malaysian Air 777 manufacturer serial number 28416 registered as 9M-MRI was sold to GA Telesis on 10/21/2013 and now registered as N105GT. This aircraft still registered as 9M-MRI and stored at Tarbes Lourdes Pyrenees on 04/10/2013, and then on 04/11/2013 itâs re-registered as N105GT and stored at Tel Aviv.
———
Then we have a lot of strange politics going on in Malaysia. An opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim that runs with a platform of greater freedom of speech, more democracy, an end to corruption and nepotism, and reform of the government-run businesses that dominate much of the economy and thus resonates with many in the new middle class⦠yet even though he got the majority of the vote last May⦠has since been charged with sodomy⦠not once, but four times (some say politically motivated)⦠the last of which was only the day before Flight 370 went missing⦠and now the pilot is being accused of a suicide by crash with the government linking him to his support for an Ibrahim party candidate. It sure would be convenient to blame the pilots if the planes were remotely hi-jacked for another purpose. The fall out of this could change Malay politics for generations⦠if the pilot was a supporter of Ibrahim and crashed the plane for political reasons it could secure the 50-year rule of the leading elites⦠if the regime was hiding crucial information such as radar information and full transcripts of the dialog with the plane, that later indicated fowl play through conspiracy, then they will be finished. The future of democracy in Malaysia hangs in the balance.
http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/malaysia-airlines-pilot-s-links-to-opposition-party-fuels-political-row-1.1735857
So why doesnât the media ever talk about the remote controlled hi-jacking possibility when everything points to that?
Did anyone ever analyze the fuel to see if any is missing and the plane possibly had more than the routine amount used on its normal route?
What happened the Flight 370 Boeing 777-200 twin aircraft last seen at Tel Aviv? And can its whereabouts be verified? Could the plane have been swapped and then ditched? What was the nature of the plane in Israel? Has that plane been manipulated in any way and have the serial numbers been altered in anyway? Can DNA analysis be done on the seats like a murder investigation for things like hair samples? If so, then why or why not?
The more one looks into the degrees of separation from Flight 370, the more questions and red flags rise to the surface. In this bizarre situation even if they find the plan, will we ever really knowâ¦..
Time will tell
P Val I think it is a little out there to think that any lake is just a lake and that a mining operation involving the lake could not harm the lake. Just my two cents.
Good news, PG didnât make the list. Lots of want to be PG towns did make the list. An interesting take on cities to avoid in Canada.

Bad news, with the fluoride referendum in November its important people know the full scope of what they are getting out to vote on⦠their future health IMO.
http://healthydebates.com/15-facts-people-dont-know-fluoride/
eagleone, you astound me on a fairly regular basis. your insights on mh370 are amazing!
re: cessation of fluoridation, i have to think that in this day and age even the oldest dinosaurs amongst us are up to speed on the inherent danger/evil of fluoridation by now. i am not aware of a pro fluoridation camp/lobby. will we get even a 40% turnout to vote? regardless of percentage it will be top heavy on the age scale for sure. i suspect the wording of the question will be the biggest factor in the end.
“special powers” in this case could mean the ability to hold up development of the ore deposit until the “right” money comes along. Word around is that the TNG (Ts’ilcotin National Government)SP? have other suitors in waiting with more money that Taseko was offering.
Ahhh…..free enterprise at work
It’s my understanding that:
the monies generated by such mining projects as proposed by taseko would be a boost to the canadian economy, albeit to varying degrees to those most directly affected. those in the communities seeing benefits more directly, yet the tax $ generated, sales tax, income tax and royalties will positively affect us all.
The first nations peoples (I know they’re not the only opposing parties, but in many cases they seem to be the ones showing the most) still expect the taxpayers to pony up the tax dollars for their health care, housing, training, etc whether these projects go or not. To be clear I’m not opposed to ANY canadian getting adequate acces to these things, just saying that there is a cost and some sacrifices and or concessions certainly need to be given due consideration.
The environmental sacrifices conceded to the oil and gas industry have been considerable over the years, and continue into the future. right or wrong, it is so.
Will those opposing the mine be willing to give up some of the standard of life they enjoy now to stand on their beliefs and principle to ensure this project does not go? Or will they just expect that all canadians can/should pay higher tax rates?
The money to support our standard of livng has to come from somewhere…….
C’mon Gus, we miss you.
He is pouting ( not all of us miss him)
Wow great theory eagleone, here is a little more:
http://humansarefree.com/2014/03/with-disappearance-of-malaysian.html
Thank you Eagleone for posting the link to the Healthy Debates website. Read and weep if one lives here within the city limits.
We are all couch experts with a million theories on Fish Lake. To my understanding there is no fish in this lake. Now the first nation feels it has special powers. Is this special powers a emotion, or is measurable. If its emotional and spiritual feelings derived, the casino has the same effect on many too.
I do believe that the development should go ahead, but not at the cost of the fish(less) Lake. I do believe that is what they did with the proposal of a liner they have incorporated into the tailing pond design, which was overlooked by the experts in the Federal offices. I have no details on this liner, assuming it is similar to a clay liner. I am sure the proposal would have included several layers of synthetic liners as well.
Could it be mined thru a mine shaft…. Yes, but the risk is huge for those workers.
Eagleone, I have to agree with you, the plane likely did not crash in the ocean. There is something purely weird about the missing plane, and the way phones could ring but not answered. Meaning that phones were confiscated, or the users were long gone…. after all a plane is a enclosed vacuum, which anything is possible.
As horrible as it may sound, It possibly could be done.
The officials in Malaysia could be in on it, or they are also simply oblivious to it all, it simply could be something the CIA had to do.
How much real information do we get. We are led to believe what is told is the truth. But if the political will is there to hide the truth from the world. they will do it.
Perfect example was Bin Ladin. Did the rest of the world know what was going to happen on that night. NO. If the US government did not hold that press conference to brag about it. Would we have ever known about it. NO.
So will we ever know the truth on how many shots were fired on JFK. only what we are led to believe.
Am I personally paranoid of the media and government…. No. They still need a tax base.
Gregg Drinnan (Taking Note) is questioning whether the Cougar’s deal is beginning to show “cracks”. Anyone else hear anything about this?
I’ll add my name to the list of folks lining up to purchase season’s tickets if the Pocock et al. purchase goes through.
Gus!
Well if we are putting on tinfoil hats, there is one major world event that occurred and received little media reporting. Russia basically waltzed into Crimea and Putin said you belong to us now. The reason was to protect Russia from all the stuff going on in the Ukraine.
re: fluoride – Don’t believe conspiracy theories, believe the science. You anti-fluoride people forced me to post this yet again…

Health Canada statement on fluoride in drinking water (June 23, 2011):
“Health Canada continues to strongly support water fluoridation as a safe, effective and cost effective public health measure to help prevent dental cavities.”
“The safety and efficacy of water fluoridation has been frequently studied and continues to be supported by current science, and the beneficial effects of fluoride in the prevention of dental cavities have been well documented in scientific literature. “
http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ahc-asc/media/ftr-ati/_2011/2011_82-eng.php
From the US Dept. of Health:
âOne of water fluoridationâs biggest advantages is that it benefits all residents of a communityâat home, work, school, or play,â said HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Howard K. Koh, MD, MPH. âTodayâs announcement is part of our ongoing support of appropriate fluoridation for community water systems, and its effectiveness in preventing tooth decay throughout oneâs lifetime.â
http://www.hhs.gov/news/press/2011pres/01/20110107a.html
From the CDC:
âFor 65 years, community water fluoridation has been a safe and healthy way to effectively prevent tooth decay. CDC has recognized water fluoridation as one of 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century. â
http://www.cdc.gov/fluoridation
From the World Health Organization:
“Water fluoridation in low fluoride-containing water supplies helps to maintain optimal dental tissue development and dental enamel resistance against caries attack during the entire life span. Fluoride in drinking water acts mainly through its retention in dental plaque and saliva. Frequent consumption of drinking water and products made with fluoridated water maintain intra-oral fluoride levels. People of all ages, including the elderly, benefit from community water fluoridation.”
http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/oralhealth/en/index2.html
From the Water Fluoridation Controversy Wikipedia page:
“The weight of the scientific evidence have found that at the dosage recommended for water fluoridation, the only clear adverse effect is dental fluorosis, which can alter the appearance of children’s teeth during tooth development. This effect is mildly cosmetic and is unlikely to represent any real effect on public health.[8] Despite opponents’ concerns, water fluoridation has been effective at reducing cavities in both children and adults.”
“Opposition to fluoridation has existed since its initiation in the 1940s.[1] During the 1950s and 1960s, some opponents of water fluoridation suggested that fluoridation was a communist plot to undermine public health.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_fluoridation_controversy
Another good page which debunks a lot of the claims made.
“You’ll also hear the claim that fluoridation has been banned in Europe. This is also completely untrue. In Europe it’s more common to fluoridate salt instead of water, thus bringing the same benefits via a different delivery method.” â¦
⦠“Let’s turn our eye onto one such community, Arcata, an idyllic coastal hamlet in northern California, that recently won this battle after a divisive and painful fight in the newspapers and in city hall. A principal champion of the science behind fluoridation is Kevin Hoover, editor of the Arcata Eye newspaper. In answering the flood of anti-fluoridation scare tactics, Hoover said:
There are no known victims. If there was a problem with municipal fluoridation, wouldn’t we have at least a few people who showed some signs of harm after 44 years? All the anti-fluoride people could say was that the victims are “undiagnosed,” but not why. They produced no victims, just lots of dubious statistics and horror stories with no provenance.”
http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4058
Canadian Cancer Society:
On the basis of current evidence, it appears unlikely that water fluoridation increases the risk of cancer, including osteosarcoma, in humans. At the same time, we know that there are many benefits to water fluoridation, especially for people who have less access to dental care.

If you want to know the history and truth of how big oil (known as the seven sisters) have manipulated countries and economies and wars since first discovered go to eztv.it and get the torrents that are the series “Al-Jazeera The Secret of the Seven sisters”, there are 4 of them. This will enlighten anyone on how the oil companies control our day to day lives. So far Canada has not been prostituted out for our oil, but it is coming as the 3rd world oil reserves are being used up and their people left penniless.
95% of plane crashes are caused by pilot error, or some sort of malfunction.
Whats the odds of this being a conspiracy??
Set the bar to vote in Canada, say you need to get at least 70% of all 149 questions to make sure you understand Canada and qualify. That or fine people that do not vote like Australia!

He spoke: “There is something purely weird about the missing plane, and the way phones could ring but not answered.”
http://www.ctvnews.ca/world/missing-malaysian-jet-debunking-5-conspiracy-theories-1.1734650
From CTV’s ‘5 conspiracy theories debunked’ page:
4. The passengersâ phones are ringing
Distraught family members calling their loved onesâ cellphones over and over again reported something odd last week â the phones were ringing. That led to speculation that the plane must have landed, allowing cellphone towers in the area to transmit the calls.
But those who work in telecommunications and the wireless industry immediately dismissed the idea, saying the ringing often means that the network is simply trying to locate the phone.
JB, I don’t think a lot of people are necessarily against the fluoride per se in the water (clearly some are), but rather against the fact that a city can force feed a medicine (for lack of a better word) to its’ citizens. The ONLY choice people here on city water have, is to stop drinking, showering, watering, cooking, etc with the tap water, which seems like no choice at all, unless you can choose not to pay the utility for water.
So apparently the sale of the Cougars is in jeopardy of falling apart.
http://gdrinnan.blogspot.ca/2014/03/cougars-sale-falling-apart-royals-win.html
“The sale of the Prince George Cougars has yet to be completed.
And some observers are beginning to wonder if cracks are starting to show.
As recently as a week ago, the sale of the WHL franchise by long-time owner Rick Brodsky to a group headed by Prince George businessman Greg Pocock was believed to be a slam dunk. Pocockâs group includes NHL defencemen Eric Brewer and Dan Hamhuis, both of them former Cougars.
But now I am told that nothing has been signed, no money has changed hands, and patience may be wearing thin.
At one time there was a second local group interested in purchasing the Cougars, that one believed to include T.J. Grewal, the father of Cougars defenceman Raymond Grewal.
A source familiar with the situation told me late last night that while Brodsky has been negotiating strictly with the Pocock group, he has had âa thoughtâ about seeing if there is any other interest alive in the community.
True North Sports and Entertainment, which owns the NHLâs Winnipeg Jets, has been rumoured as a potential WHL franchise owner, if only because of the success the Calgary Hitmen and Edmonton Oil Kings have had under the ownership umbrella of NHL teams in those cities.
If TNSE, indeed, is interested in owning a franchise, you wonder if it might get involved with Brodsky at this particular time.”
Eagleone says that **fowl** play may have been afoot in Malaysia .
I guess we will have to wait and see if the **chickens** come home to roost.
Huh: “JB, I don’t think a lot of people are necessarily against the fluoride per se in the water (clearly some are), but rather against the fact that a city can force feed a medicine (for lack of a better word) to its’ citizens.”
The worst part about this, is that if fluoride was to be stopped, it probably wouldn’t affect most people who brush their teeth. It’s the people who don’t have good dental habits, and the kids of parents who don’t care who will suffer the most.
I have noticed in certain media outlets that Stephen Harper is always shooting his mouth off and crapping on Putin. I guess he isn’t afraid of Putin. They’re still commies aren’t they? Obviously he wasn’t impressed with Putin’s escapade. Obama? Nah. Not so much. Looking forward to seeing the POTUS doing a cameo at the Oscars. When he was on Letterman he came across as a real cool dude. His ball and chain is gallivanting round China as we speak. When I was a little kid, a thousand years ago I could not comprehend Dwight D. Eisenhower making an appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. Don’t govern me. Just entertain me and raise my taxes.
When Jenny Kwan finally decides to come back to work I sure hope people don’t forget the questions they want to ask her. She can run but she can’t hide. Running for election and then running to hide from questions. The next election is sooo far away. Maybe people will forget and vote her back in. Such a brave, honest, forthcoming honourable, noble, classy broad. (sarcasm off).
palopu, is that a veiled reference to the chinese scientists that were flown into diego garcia recently? post ‘crash’ that is.
Huh? Why has Australia gone on to increase their fluoridation of water aiming for 100% coverage? Why are Calgary dentists calling for the municipality to reintroduce fluoridation a scant 2 years after they stopped?
Since most of Europe has gone to subsidized dental care their carries rates have gone down considerably. Last time I checked we still pay full rates here in Canada
Westjet PG to Calgary flight starts soon. This is due to a plane being available, and it may be short lived. Travellers should consider Calgary an option and try to utilize this flight. If we can keep the seats full, the run may continue and we will have many more connection options besides the ones from YVR.
Need a West jet to Edmonton flights once or twice a week.
a_britishcolumbian. (should be abc)
No veiled reference at all. Merely pointing out that there is a difference between the word fowl, and foul.
Muppets news flash! People that don’t look after their teeth will get cavities with and without fluoride in the water. Every dentist will tell you that fluoride on your teeth is good but it isn’t good in your body. That is why they tell you to spit out your fluoride treatment. Fluoride in the water is mass medication plain and simple. Let the people choose!

I think it’s safe to conclude that one’s political stripes have no bearing on their ability to act with integrity once they are in office.
Ministry of children and family services. Anyone have experience with this arrogant elitist so called government service.
I wouldnt be too worried about the Cougars, they are supposed to file with the WHL for purchase this afternoon.
I wouldnt be too worried about the Cougars, they are supposed to file with the WHL for purchase this afternoon.
Politicians are getting easier to figure out.
What ever their election platform promises are, they will do the opposite. Then they will just say, oh well, the party took a different direction.
How can you tell when a politician is lying?
Their lips are moving.
NoWay: “Every dentist will tell you that fluoride on your teeth is good but it isn’t good in your body. That is why they tell you to spit out your fluoride treatment.”
Um, no. Your fluoride treatment at the dentist contains fluoride at a much higher level than what is in the water (0.7 PPM). This is a simple concept, but it is a common myth and scare tactic perpetuated by the anti-fluoride crowd.
Dentists in Calgary are petitioning to reverse the short-sighted decision they made to remove fluoride.

JB is at it again, thinking that posting a dozen pro-chemical forced mass medication web links can relieve him of answering the questions that I asked him to come clean on some months ago, in response to the provocative and dismissive comments he kept making.
YOU may believe that this chemical is good for you. I know that it is not. I am recovering from cancer. I have learned enough about the subject so that I do not want it added to MY tap water. It is a cancer causing neurotoxin, as are the arsenic and mercury which come with it!
Why do you insist on demanding that MY tap water is still being poisoned? Brush your teeth with it and allow ME to have clean water free from a industrial chemical effluent.
Do I have the right to determine what goes into MY body or not?
Come clean. In totalitarian states people’s
rights are being laughed at, trampled and dismissed!
Do WE live in a democratic society, respectful of individual rights and freedoms or not?
“Um, no. Your fluoride treatment at the dentist contains fluoride at a much higher level than what is in the water (0.7 PPM). This is a simple concept, but it is a common myth and scare tactic perpetuated by the anti-fluoride crowd.”
Ask your dentist JB, I asked mine. Fluoride is not good in your body period!
So how much of a dose are you getting JB even at 0.7PPM? Depends on much water you drink, how much you cook with tap water, whether you bath or shower. The problem is how much of a dose are we getting? We don’t know!
“Your fluoride treatment at the dentist”
================================
My dentist and hygenist laughed at me when I asked about fluoride treatments when I moved out here. They told me that they don’t do it anymore unless there are indicators that it is needed.
NoWay: “Ask your dentist JB, I asked mine. Fluoride is not good in your body period! “
From the Canadian Dental Association Website…
http://www.cda-adc.ca/en/oral_health/faqs_resources/faqs/fluoride_faqs.asp#11
“Are there any health risks associated with water fluoridation?
With the exception of dental fluorosis, scientific studies have not found any credible link between water fluoridation and adverse health effects.”
Considering that I have been drinking fluoridated water since it was introduced into Prince George water, along with literally thousands of other people, and considering that I am in good health, I would say that the issue of fluoride in water is more of a tempest in a teapot than an issue with any legs.
When one considers the problem of people ingesting sugar, fructose, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, sodium, etc in everything they eat, fluoride is away down the list of things to be concerned about.
Why does anyone care if there IS fluoride in our water. I can see why people DON’T want it in the water, but why would someone argue for the addition of fluoride in our water? If it is simply because it helps teeth, then the answer to that is look after them better and that will do just as much if not more than fluoride in the water. Why take a chance in case fluoride does cause illnesses down the road to some people, is it worth having fluoride then?
We are facing a conundrum with the municipal election in Prince George this year.
The question is. Which of the present Councilors should be re-elected and which should be sent packing. We have a number of issues that have to be looked at.
1. Actual time as a Councilor, ie; Those in their first term should probably be given some breathing room, because they were in a learning curve.
2. Some Councilors have been in council for years. What have they accomplished during this time, and what can we expect from them in the future.
3. Some Councilors are going into their third terms, and its these councilors that we need to look a closely to see what actual contribution they have made to the City. Seems to me we could make a case that in fact they have caused us more duress/stress than anything else.
4. We have been inundated with increases in taxes, service fee’s, and little or no decrease in the cost of running the City. This leads me to believe that all the effort is on raising more money, and spending more money. How long can we continue to do this??
5. Rumour has it that a number of ex Councilors will run for re-election this year. Do we really need to bring back those who have already served, and have been voted out once before???
6. What about the Mayor. Seems to me we need a strong candidate to run for Mayor if for no other reason than to get the issues on the table. The Mayor is the key running the City,. We need the best person possible for this job. Hopefully we will get a few candidates for the Mayors position.
7. Perhaps we should elect a few new councilors this fall, however we need to ensure that we don’t throw out all our experienced councilors, and bring in a whole new slate of greenhorns,. Pun intended.
So this election will require some serious consideration before going to the polls. Some certainly need to go, and some should stay. But who???
The link is a recently published Lancet article showing that floride is indeed a neuro-toxin.
http://download.thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/laneur/PIIS1474442213702783.pdf?id=baaNrJ6r3Xqdad5f9sFsu
I would prefer having my water containing only what makes it safe to drink and nothing more be it good, bad or indifferent.
a-britishcolumbian. Re mining..
Without looking at the plan for prosperity.. You can mine these types of deposits at a lower tonnage but you need higher grades and commodity prices. One other common method for mining site sensitive porphyry deposits is to do underground block caving. However block caving is expensive and you need higher grades, greater diversification of metals and an offset high grade precious metal credit.. Either way you still need a tailings storage facility and waste rock storage. This is where the cost for any mine comes in.
Depending on the proximity of the deposit to fish lake you could risk flooding the mine if you did block caving.. Hope this helped..
Further comment of changes to the ALR, which has been closed for comment:
This is where Alberta is at people, and this is where BC is going to end up!
âIn June,â my father said, âlandowners will no longer have the right to refuse oil and gas activity on their land.â He is talking about Alberta Bill 2, which will remove landownersâ opportunities to state their concerns at a hearing before an energy project is approved. The bill also removes âpublic interestâ as a statutory consideration in approving energy projects.
Furthermore, Bill 2 removes a landownerâs ability to appeal an approved project to an independent review body.
Bill 2 is the latest in a series of bills the Alberta government is using to gain access to and control over the provinceâs energy resources. Bill 2âs predecessors â Bills 46, 19, 36, 24, 50 and 8 â have all passed into law. Essentially, Albertaâs land-use regime is being forcibly transitioned from agriculture to resource extraction.
Keith Wilson, an Edmonton area lawyer, states: âThe common theme to each of the bills is that they concentrate power into the hands of cabinet in Edmonton, limit rights to compensation, seek to remove the role of the courts, and diminish the adherence to the rule of law in Alberta.â
He spoke says…”after all a plane is a enclosed vacuum, which anything is possible”
Nope, they are pressurized.
ewitt: “The link is a recently published Lancet article showing that floride is indeed a neuro-toxin.”
Lots of things are toxic when consumed in large amounts, of which fluoridated water is not. This is the same scare tactic argument that NoWay tried.
how much are we paying to add this poison to our water currently?
Peeps: This is where Alberta is at people, and this is where BC is going to end up!”
According to whom? The changes to the 40 years old ALR Act only give Zone 2 farmers flexibility to have more options on their own land. The farmers in Zone 1, where 85% of the production happens won’t see the rules change.
But go ahead, keep on claiming that the sky is falling.
where do we get the fluoride from?
who is profiting from our use of it?
how many people are at risk of exposure to the undiluted product in the handling of it and working with the equipment associated with it?
There are a high number of people diagnosed with MS in the city and I know of several who lived here the majority of their lives and moved away. Make you wonder if the fluoride that is considered a neuro toxin is to blame…..I am going to look this up
Sure it provides farmers with more flexibility to have other options on their land JB, but I can just as “correctly” state that these changes also opens the door for OIL & Gas to drill in the Agricultural Land Reserve!
Nice how they packaged these changes from a farmers perspective, too bad they didn’t state the real purpose behind these changes, as we can plainly see Oil & Gas executives rubbing their hands together and drooling in eager anticipation.
A government that cares so much for industry, corporations and the economy NOW concerned about the “little guy” the rural farmers? Making changes to the ALR despite having received NO complaints from those farmers about the inflexibility of the ALR?
PLEASE!!! Time to wake up sheeple!
Fluoride comes from rocks, the fluoride ion is also found in ocean water at about 1.3 ppm, guess those fish are all running around with fluorosis.
Noone is “profiting” from its use, at 300 bucks for a metric tonne noone is getting ‘rich’ off the stuff. Most of the cost is in the equipment to add it to the water system. The only people who handle it are trained in its use and handling. I think the people of this town would know if anyone was hurt by exposure, but of course I understand if you want to cling to all those conspiracy theories, add that one to your list.
Living in northern climates predisposes you to MS, it is an autoimmune disease where your body attacks its own tissues. Starting out your life in southern climates reduces your risk of MS. Hope that helps chloe
Here is the proof people, go to this BC Oil & Gas Commission (OGC) site and ask yourselves, why are all these Agricultural Land Reserve Applications and permits on a Oil & Gas Commission website?
The answer is in a June 13th, 2013 agreement between the ALC and the OGC which transfers most all of the ALC’s powers and authorities over to the Oil & Gas Commission.
I deal with “facts” and “truths” when I post, and this is no different!
http://www.bcogc.ca/industry-zone/documentation/Agricultural-Land-Reserve-(ALR)
JB The city has no right to add chemicals to the water regardless if the results are good, bad or indifferent as I stated earlier. If they insist on doing it they should supply at no charge a reverse osmosis system to anyone who does not want floride in their water.
IMO it is no different than if the Fraser Valley communities found an ingest-able form of the MMR vaccine that they could add to the water to help limit the measles outbreak.
Decisions on medications a person takes is between them and their doctor or dentist and the city has no part to play. If even one or two people in the entire city are adversely affected by the floride then the price is too high.
So there was no drilling on ALR land before June 13. Drill baby drill.
Peeps, for crying out loud, stop with your facts” and “truths” statements!
You have been shown to be incorrect in your “facts” and “truths” and when challenged on your “facts” and “truths”, you chose to run and hide rather than debate your “facts” and “truths”!!
Seems like only a week or two ago that I attempted in vain to engage you on a couple of different issues. Sometimes you are right and sometimes, yes even you are wrong!
Learn to deal with it, ok????
“in the interest of saving time, let’s just assume that I am always right”

Re an earlier post I made on the story re the ALR, and commented on the upcoming legislation affecting BC parks. Found this petition circulating, with links to more information. Some how this does not feel right. Re the ALR, needs work indeed, but we have an ex oilfield contractor as head of all agriculture in BC….just saying. http://action.sumofus.org/a/bc-parks-open-oil-gas-mining/?sub=fb
City Councils have no medical license to prescribe the addition of a chemical to treat people (a drug or medicine) via tap water. Fluoridation is NOT for treating the water (chlorination does that) but it is specifically added to treat persons who they have not diagnosed with any illness and no safe dosage has been determined.
Especially for infants, toddlers and those in the womb!
By the way, the MSDS (material safety data sheet) of the company which supplies the fluoride waste chemical to our city identifies its intended use for:
A) water fluoridation
B) as a wood preservative.
Enjoy the next eight daily glasses of tap water!
[url]http://action.sumofus.org/a/bc-parks-open-oil-gas-mining/?sub=fb[url] that’s the link. Interesting
PG: “By the way, the MSDS (material safety data sheet) of the company which supplies the fluoride waste chemical to our city identifies its intended use for:

And once again, you are giving two examples where the amounts of fluoride used in each application are vastly different.
I realze that no matter how many scietific links I post you will stubbornly believe what you want, but please at least try to be fair and upfront about your arguments, and rely less on fear mongering and scare tactics. Thanks.
You forgot to add the backslash to the back url excusemebut2. Interesting article, thanks for posting it, just goes to show people how influential the Oil & Gas Industry really is.
Nothing is out of bounds to the Oil & Gas Industry anymore.
Another new moniker People #1 ?
I only use one moniker and have one account on this site rummy, although I suspect some have multiples on here.
@excusemebut2, I am posting a clickable version of your link about Oil & Gas and Mining being allowed in BC Parks.

Perhaps if people have questions about the ALR and the reason for the changes, they can contact the three Liberal representatives in this area, ie; Morris, Bond, Rustad. These people are members of the Liberal Party, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and our representatives in Victoria.
Surely the Government would not have gone ahead with these changes without discussing them with MLA’s, and surely our MLA’s if questioned would bring us up to date on what is taking place.
After all, isn’t that what we pay them for??
Lets hear from our highly paid MLA’s
Newbie to discus or whatever, thanks for correcting my link, People#1. I think that the changes referred to in my link are rather important, and the details are factual…and need to be brought to the light as it were. And I have no firm feeling on the ALR but Palopu has it right, in that they should explain what they are up to very clearly….what about Pimm, I know he is out of the scene for the moment but no doubt had input. Look guys, in the absence of an opposition worth talking about in this province, who is looking out for the future. I still maintain the agricultural potential of the Peace for example, is very poorly tapped, which lets Christie get away with using that 15 percent bull as a means of perhaps getting a bit loose with industry….

JB, my concern for my health and my insistence on being given the opportunity (with fluoride free tap water, used for bathing, cooking and drinking) is NOT fearmongering.
Sorry you don’t get the message. I can post as many links to websites that have scientific data which warns against water manipulation with a known carcinogen and neurotoxin.
At least now you are admitting that fluoride causes dental fluorosis, which is damage to teeth which must be taken care of by dentists, even if just unsightly and enough so people don’t dare smile.
Perhaps these people can band together and ask for compensation.
Health officials when put on the stand admit that fluoride works topically – on the surface of the teeth – and that ingesting it is perhaps not such a good idea!
97% of B.C. now has fluoride free tap water! Have you ever wondered WHY dozens of communities have banned it from their tap water after becoming more educated?
OK, it’s time for this scum to be designated a dangerous offender and throw away the key.

so, we get fluoride from rocks? and then we just throw the rocks in the reservoirs?
it would make sense no one would profit from that.
now $300 makes more sense, but how much are we using a year?
and if we are working with such large volumes, then there certainly is going to be a number of people currently risking their health and lives to add it to the water.
i get the impression cessation of fluoridation could cut an at least 5 or 6 figure number from the budget, and of course reduce a genuinely risky task of handling the horrid stuff.
i do not believe for a second no one is making money from the sale of fluoride.
at roughly a $1.50 a gallon, someone is profiting from supplying us with fluoride.
i had thought i would get more feedback on fish lake.
You will never get first nations on side with mining because regardless of the outcome, they get their handout from the government. The just need to realize that the money doesn’t just magically appear.
peeps. Companies can and do drill on ALR land. Have since the ALR system was formed. Now, let that sink in slowly….don’t let your head explode. What is it with you and change. There are many legacy programs from generations ago that need updating to a 2014 world and it is fought by leftard activists kicking and screaming “big oil” or “corporate greed”. Predictable but what a waste of effort.
Thanks slinky but MS does not attack the tissues as you state it attacks the Myelin. If you look up Myelin it is not a tissue.
And yes living in the north does predispose one to MS but it makes one wonder what else does
Road rage Karma, LOL!

PG: “Sorry you don’t get the message. I can post as many links to websites that have scientific data which warns against water manipulation with a known carcinogen and neurotoxin. “
Then why not post them? Let’s see how reliable your sources are. I have Health Canada, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and the Canadian Cancer Society just to name a few. Let’s see what you have.
“At least now you are admitting that fluoride causes dental fluorosis, which is damage to teeth which must be taken care of by dentists, even if just unsightly and enough so people don’t dare smile.”
When did I say otherwise? If you did any research, the only known side effect of effective fluoridation is a slight increase in fluorosis levels. Tooth decay is far more serious, unsightly, and expensive to repair. See the Australian Government Queensland Health link below.
http://www.health.qld.gov.au/fluoride/document/myth_fact_sheet.pdf
“97% of B.C. now has fluoride free tap water! Have you ever wondered WHY dozens of communities have banned it from their tap water after becoming more educated?”
Because people have listened to the alarmists and not done any of their own research. Fluoridation of water at optimum levels carries far more benefits than risks, and the science proves it.
Calgary dentists are asking the municipality to restore fluoridation because of a spike in tooth decay in kids.
Don’t worry, PG, when referendum time comes, I’m sure local residents will probably end up listening to fear mongering and alarmists like yourself rather than what the major scientific bodies have to say.
Looks as if employers are pushing for emigrants to address the so called skills shortage. Maybe employers wanting to get out of training costs?
i am getting the impression the rule about not posting links has been relaxed or rescinded.
if it the latter that would be a good thing.
People in BC are living longer to-day than ever before, with or without fluoride.
As Johnnybelt has pointed out, the fluoride levels considered problematic are much higher than those in our drinking water. The studies of drinking water with high fluoride levels, such as those in China, are referring to drinking water with very high NATURAL fluoride levels, not to the results of artificial fluoridation.
Note also that the cited study does not say that fluoride is a “neurotoxin”. It says that it is a “developmental neurotoxicant”. The word “developmental” is key. They’re talking about the effects of exposure while a baby is in the uterus. There’s no indication of toxic effects on children or adults.
Once I thought I was wrong… but I was mistaken ;-)
I hadn’t heard of that someofus.org site before, so thought I would do a search to see if any other sites mention the changes to open up Parks for exploration.
Looks like the Park Amendment Act is in the first reading:
http://www.leg.bc.ca/40th2nd/1st_read/gov04-1.htm
About this fluoride, would it not have to touch the teeth to do any good? most water used doesn,t even get to touch them and a lot of people drink bottled water. It might be a lot cheaper to pass out free bottled water with fluoride to the once that want to drink it,then to put it in all the water of which most bypasses the people
Seamut, childeren and family services is only one of the goverment “services” that you don,t want to deal with,if you look like you can,t affort a good lawyer, you are on the short end.I have seen people kicked out of their own house based on stories made up by neighbours, all of it was dropped after a half a year. This person would have been in jail with the legal aid lawyer, we got them a good one and that was the end of it. We have a legal system, not a justice system
dan, thanks for the heads up on christy clark’s betrayal. i am on it.
So Billposser, I guess you are implying that fluoride is ok as a developmental neurotoxicant, so long as it only effects infants without a blood brain barrier to protect them from the developmental contamination of their infant brains.
For me that is a too much of a risk for a city employee to be making the decision on behalf of my children.
If one need flouride one should brush their teeth. Besides kids that don’t brush their teeth grow new teeth when their infant ones fall out… designed from birth to make the need for fluoride redundant. If a person with adult teeth doesn’t brush, then they don’t deserve to have good teeth anyways.
Why risk the health of infants and people with cardiovascular conditions, because some adults are too lazy to brush their teeth?
Johnny why is it that the FDA has never done a proper study and given certification to the use of fluoride in water… and why should we care what anyone in your links thinks anyways when they have no scientific study to prove fluoride is not harmful, because that can not be proven… so it shouldn’t be in the water period.
BTW why is it that Enbridge has a large crew of three dozen or so working in Bear Lake mapping out their pipeline right of way? Do they know something the rest of the public doesn’t… has Harper given them the approval and just not announced it yet?
What is up with that?
P Val, your comment about Gus was unnecessary, your childish comments are not becoming of anybody with the slightest of intelligence! If anybody should be banished from this site, it’s you. Quite frankly, I find you very irritating, never up for a good discussion!
Here is something for people#1 to think about
“CO2 has been studied way too much with no progress and natural variability has been studied way too little with no progress.
Use the research funding to study natural variability before wasting time figuring out carbon footprints.
Something made temperature go up and down in narrow bounds before man pumped out a lot of CO2. We are still inside the same bounds and, as of the past 17 years, we are not headed out and we are not near the upper bound of the past eleven thousand years.
There is nothing unnatural about our current climate and nothing unnatural about even another degree or a little more.
I repeat this most important fact!
CO2 has been studied way too much with no progress and natural variability has been studied way too little with no progress”.
To the people who are anti-fluoride, your quarrel isn’t with me, it’s with the majority of scientific studies and world scientific organizations that support it. Is there some sort of massive worldwide conspiracy between these organizations? Doubtful.
There is just no credible scientific evidence that fluoridation of water *at approved levels* causes any harm to the vast majority of people, and that the benefits far outweigh the risks. End of story.
GUS FOR MAYOR
Anyone know what’s wrong with our court system and judges? Bus drivers get beat, a lady gets beaten by a mindless hulk who is a repeat offender and they just go through revolving door.
Hey judges time to earn your inflated wages and perks and step up to the job. Hey there was more justice in Nightcourt.
Allison Redford actually thought she would get that sweet condo for her and her daughter across the street from where she worked,..Departed, but did not quit, as she wants the severance package,,,,just as bad as Kwan in this province,,,,woman, sure now how to f things up hey, and I am sad to say I am a woman.
Come back Gus!
