No Change to Dust Advisory

Thursday, April 3, 2014 @ 5:44 PM

Prince George, B.C.- The Dust Advisory that was  put in place this morning will remain in place until at least tomorrow morning.

Ministry of the Environment Meteorologist, Dennis Fudge says levels of coarse particulate, (PM10) remain high.

The provincial air quality objective for  PM10, is 50 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 59 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown, 28 µg/m3 at College Heights and 64 µg/m3 at BCR at 4 this afternoon.

The provincial air quality objective for fine particles, PM2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre, averaged over 24 hours. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 10 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site, 7 µg/m3 at College Heights at 4 this afternoon.

Fudge says  while  particulate levels did  improve somewhat this afternoon, they may increase again this evening as winds are expected to decrease. There is a slight chance of light precipitation tonight which may help a little.

LET IT RAIN ) Full days of pouring rain does not happen here often. We here ,,have to wait for the month of May. Nothing beats the rain to keep the dust down and the snow to disappear quickly. I have seen Hiabs, tiger torches, you name it,,, she was sitting in a lawn chair hitting it hard :),a hart highway lady , I couldn’t stop smiling. What some people will do to make it go away quickly. I suggest a hose and a sprinkler, you will be raking weeks ahead of your neighbour :) Cheers ( yea I have done it )

street sweepers are in contact with enviroment canada . . . hence, dust warning. What’s on TV tonight
