No New Leads in IED Incident

Prince George, B.C. -Police continue to look for the  person or persons responsible for at least two  improvised explosive devices that were  placed on University Way  last month.

Just before midnight on Thursday march 18th, residents reported hearing a loud bang.  Some called police, reporting they had heard what they believed to have been shots fired in an area bounded by the CN Centre to the east, and the University to the west.

When police went to investigate, they discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) on University Way.

The roadway was blocked from Foothills to the turn off to the Northern Sport Centre until the RCMP’s bomb disposal unit could arrive from the lower mainland to destroy the device.

Investigators are still hoping to hear from anyone who may have information on the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Too bad they don’t show us a picture of it. That could trigger someone’s recollection or memory of someone hearing something about it.

No damage so maybe more of a noisemaker. IED sounds more impressive. Cops should clarify.

Don’t show a picture of it. Become a penpal of Omar. He might draw a picture of one for you. That is if yer dying to see one.

More than likely a pipe bomb, think all high school kids know how to build one – least they did 30 years ago.

We don’t know much about the bomb apart from the fact that it went off on a Tuesday night 18 March. The date falls on the last Tuesday night of the Winter and right before start of spring and St Patrick’s day.

Accidentally the Iranian community have a ceremony on the last Tuesday of Winter each year playing with fireworks, bonfires and anything that explodes and make noise. Let’s see whether RCMP has the resources to interview some folks in PG and find the person behind it.
