Competition Launched for Mural for Airport
Prince George, B.C. – The 2015 Canada Winter Games is calling on northern BC artists to submit their proposal for a "Spirit of the Games " project.
This project is to be a mural depicting northern BC and the legacy of the 2015 Games. It will be painted on the exterior arrivals wall of the Prince George Airport .
"We are thrilled YXS has been chosen as a location for a 2015 Games legacy art piece. We've worked really hard expanding our community art program and the 'Spirit of the Games' is a welcome addition,” says Prince George Airport Authority President and CEO, John Gibson. “The wall where this mural will be displayed is in a high traffic location, it is also one of the first things people will see when coming into our city. We look forward to sharing the story of the 2015 Canada Winter Games for years to come."
Interested artists from northern BC are asked to submit their proposal and supporting documents by June 9. Artists can get a detailed list of what the proposal must include on the websites of each partnering organization: www.studio2880.com, www.pgairport.ca, www.canadagames2015.ca.
Proposals will be juried through a selection committee that is made up of representatives from the 2015 Games, Prince George & District Community Arts Council and Prince George Airport Authority. The successful proposal will be selected in July, with the mural to be unveiled this September.

and the legacy of the 2015 Games.
A bunch of Bankrupt taxpayers and a city with broken infrastructure ?
How would you draw that?
A pothole stuffed full of money? Tumbleweeds rolling throw our empty downtown streets? Everyone sporting a fake Shari Green smile? A Preparation H Tube? We might need that when all’s said and done.
The first “tangible” things people will see entering our city will be the deplorable state of worn out and broken down warehouses along First Ave. or the magnificent structures in the B.C. Rail site. I am trying to get excited. Don’t forget to point out our jail and our casino on the way into town. Both very important to our economy.
Hey, maybe a big mural for the jail walls too! Its a highly visible location for one!
