Prince George, BC – RCMP have a suspect in custody following an afternoon robbery at the Integris Credit Union in the River Point Plaza at the corner of Highway 16 and Ferry Avenue…

While not going into details at this early stage, Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, say the suspect was apprehended thanks, in part, to assistance from members of the public.

Corporal Douglass says several police units responded to reports of a robbery at the credit union in the 21-hundred block of Ferry Avenue at approximately 3:20pm this afternoon.

Douglass says officers arrested the culprit believed responsible about 20-minutes later.

While RCMP are not providing any further details at this time, it is believed the suspect was taken into custody at Pine Centre Mall, where several cruisers converged at the mall's west entrance.  Witnesses observed a man being handcuffed and placed in the back of one of the cruisers.

Could be said they was robbed twice in two days

Love it when an arrest comes together that quick, nice work police and public. While we have no idea how the public got involved, I for one is really glad they did.
Next up, Harb with the sentencing position.

Mr. Predictable says not today.

Too bad Joe Average doesn’t get the same police action when his house gets broken in to.

Maybe more of these small time punks will get the message that the public will and do inform the police about what’s going on.
A big thank you to all who cared enough to get involved.

What was other robbery?

Please let it be one of our local South African gangsters!!!

“Could be said they was robbed twice in two days”

Throw the book at these low lives. The laws are there to lock them up for a good long time. The judges are the problem, they don’t seem to want to send the criminals away for a good long time.

If space in prisons is a problem, quit build The Hilton’s on the hill for them. I’ve said for years, you build prisons in the NWT consisting of cabins withe wood cook stoves. You make them get the fuel to eat and cook with the government supplies warm clothes and not so fancy food. There is one road in, and the same one goes out. We don’t need to build expensive walls around the cabins, because if they choose to walk, they won’t go far before the power of nature will take over. If they choose to stay, they will learn some really good living skills, and they won’t come back for seconds.

What do you think Griz :-) ?

Taxi

I agree with some of you… The Judges just pass the buck.. Show me a good Judge.. Lawyers are worse with dragging out cases so they could make more money so they could brag bout how great their kids are and pat themselves on the back at the expense of all the troubled clients waiting to get their cases into crts.
Our Judicial system going to pot as time goers on.. Speaking of pot….hhahh Soon will be available in grocery stores too..

Judges should rotate round the province. They get too comfy with same lawyers in same town and it;s obvious they play favoritism too..

Yesss Times are changing.. Just watch the news and read the papers

The judges are limited as well in what they can sentence subject to previous sentences. If they sentence too harshly it gets appealed. Too bad they wouldn’t use sentencing examples from a hundred years ago.
And taxi: why the NWT? Why not an island off the Aleutians somewhere, where they could not escape from? Some place that they would definitely not want to return.
Cruel and unusual punishment? Well, what got them into trouble in the first place?
